We stayed over Easter (April) and had a great experience. The house is on a large private lot, clean, and matched the listing. It was comfortable for sleeping, lounging, and cooking; although, the pillows in the main bedroom were flat and uncomfortable, enough to cause neck pain, so I’d suggest bringing your own if you're picky. The kitchen was decent but missing a few basics like measuring cups, and the garbage bin was too small for the size of our group. Also, the bathroom light kept shutting off unexpectedly; my husband, who is an electrician, mentioned it could be an issue with the switch. That said, communication with the host was excellent and check-in/out was smooth. Shoal Lake has that classic small-town feel, quiet with limited shopping and early closing times, so come well-prepared with what you need. I imagine this place is really beautiful in the summer! We were visiting our niece in nearby Birtle, and this place was a perfect base. We'd stay again and recommend it.

First things first we have to say WOW! Me and my husband decided to get away for a weekend and we both really enjoy the peace and quiet of the country. We were blown away by the cleanliness, beautiful views and how freindly and accommodating Ian was. Loved the note in the information book about how the cabin was crafted and made. The pride and craftsmanship that was put into this place really shows. You can tell Ian and his wife Lorna both care about their cabin and the people that rent it from them. The cabin itself was so comfortable and we felt right at home. It is definitely an outdoor enthusiasts dream! We checked ice conditions for ice fishing, went snowshoeing, went to riding mountain to see the bison and visited clear lake. Lots of beautiful scenery, very private. Loved the fact that you hear nothing, no highways, no busy streets. Felt like the perfect getaway! We have already been thinking of which date we would like to book again in the near future. Nice private cabin in rural Manitoba. Was difficult to find in the dark due to road closures, I recommend arriving before sunset if you come here.

This place is amazing. It was a great location for my families yearly father/kids trip. The hottub well it was snowing was great. Even had some wildlife (deer and a fox) come through the yard well we were in the hottub. The rooms are great sized, have comfy beds and plenty of blankets. The open concept of the kitchen and living room makes it a great place to hang out. The kids spent alot of time listening to music and playing video games they brought it in that room. I was still able to have my own quiet space with the amazing master bedroom and bathroom. The only thing I would have liked was room in a dresser to put clothes. With five of us there for three nights it was a little hard to live out of our bags on the floor in the rooms. Will for sure be back and the kids are excited to go back in the summer time when they can go swimming in the lake and have a fire in the backyard.

Perfect for a couple of guys enjoying a golf weekend at kenosee! Fire pit and bbq are great perks.

We loved the cabin! Such a hidden gem. A great place to get away with family and friends to reconnect and play games and explore! We will be back!
