Wat je gaat doen

Discover what it's like to run an 8 acre tropical fruit farm in paradise! You'll use all our senses on a walking tour of Lokoea Farms. We'll give you some history of the farm and the area, and guide your exploration of our 3 orchards to learn about the ethnobotany and horticulture of Hawai‘i's unique fruit trees and harvest some fruits in season. Get ready to marvel at our vanilla plants and smell the aroma of our vanilla beans. You'll even get to help feed our hilarious chickens, and collect their rainbow-colored eggs.

Then it's time for our picnic! We'll relax on the lawn or at the picnic table overlooking the gorgeous orchid-filled gardens while you eat your fill of farm-grown exotic tropical fruit and nuts - the freshest, most delicious, and perfectly in season delicacies. We'll teach you how to use our coconut husker to open up a coconut. Nothing store-bought can compare to the amazing flavor of coconut water and meat from a just-picked nut. You'll even use our special nutcracker to experience the rich flavor of our macadamia nuts.

A 6th generation local, Noe grew up on the land where the farm is now, back when it was surrounded by sugarcane, and Hale‘iwa was still a sleepy little plantation town. After spending some time on the mainland, she returned to her hometown to help her family run the farm. She's learned a lot about tropical fruit and citrus in the last three years, and the struggling little business is now financially sustainable and provides her with a full-time job. Like our trees, Noe has deep roots in this special place.

Kekai is the first non-family employee at Lokoea Farms. When he's not working here, he's studying ‘Olelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian language) and Malama ‘Aina (sustainability) at the University of Hawaii. His enthusiasm is contagious and he's a master at husking coconuts.

We love our farm, and we'd love to share it with you.

Waar je naartoe gaat

Lokoea Farms is eight beautiful acres nestled in the Anahulu River Valley, at the base of impressive Mt. Ka‘ala. Just off the main highway, we are easy to find, but just far enough from the hustle and bustle of Hale‘iwa town. It's our little slice of paradise, filled with exotic trees, gorgeous orchids, and lots of peace and quiet.

We had a great experience exploring the farm and different type of fruit. Filled with little stories of the farm and our guide. We got to pick our own fruit and try them too. They are the freshest and most delicious you could have. Thank you for a beautiful, personal insight into Hawaiian life! Bonus: free running chickens and dogs :-)

This experience was amazing! We were in a group of about 15 people, which they said was a larger group than normal. We were taken on a stroll through the farm to see the different fruit trees/plants. We got to pick oranges to take home, and try other fruits like loquats straight from the plant. We learned about the farm, fed the chickens, and pet the really cute dogs. Then we got to enjoy a fruit platter with about 10 different fruits. The tour guide climbed a coconut tree and let us help husk the coconut to drink its water and eat it. Highly recommend this experience! Very enjoyable and well worth the trip up north.

The farm tour was great. We saw many different trees and plants that we have never seen before. The host was relaxed and friendly. The little picnic/tasting at the end was awesome. I wish it had been avocado season though, the one we tasted was the best!

Nice way to spend a couple of hours on Oahu. We got to see life on the farm and I liked hearing about the different fruits and nuts growing there. Our host was very friendly and answered questions and told stories with passion.

This was such a fun experience for my whole family! It was nice to walk around a working farm and be shown the different fruits that they grow and how the Hawaiian climate affects fruit production. My 7 yr twin sons loved cracking macadamia nuts and chasing butterflies. My tween and teen daughters took up the challenge of cracking coconuts. My dad tasted passion fruit for the first time. My mom was so happy eating fresh-picked papaya. My husband couldn’t get enough of the fresh oranges. I was amazed by the size of their avocados - they looked like small cantaloupes. We were contemplating this vs the Dole plantation and we were so happy that we chose this bc we got to support a small local farm, get a more personal experience, and eat a variety of fruits vs Dole whip. Their Lilikoi-Lemon Coconut Butter is AMAZING!
