The Takadanobaba neighborhood is a rambunctious mix of corporate and university life. Baird Taproom, our watering hole for the evening, is right in the thick of it!

Booking Christopher for the first 3 nights in Japan was the best decision we made. The first evening, Christopher was extremely accommodating with our flight schedule. We met him and enjoyed craft beers while learning that the Japanese craft beer scene was growing. The second night, we tasted 3 sakes and 3 shochu while learning about the process of how they are made and their similarities and differences. The 3rd night was a complete immersion into shochu. We were able to taste as many different varieties of shochu that we could handle. We also participated in making different cocktails with the many mixers available to us. During the rest of our trip, we felt knowledgeable and comfortable ordering shochu and sake. We even bought an extra piece of luggage to fill with shochu! Great experience!

Christoper is a lovely host! He went above and beyond to share with me his experiences living in Tokyo for 15 years and also his journey in pursuing his passion in Shochu. He has also make me feel connected with his community and friends in Tokyo which I really appreciate a lot. He is very patient with my questions and helping me understand about Shochu as a beginner. You can tell them he is genuine in wanting to get his guests to truly experience Shochu and at least have an awareness of it, or else to fall in love with it. The places that we met and learnt about Shochu were very unique, I might not even know about these places without Christopher. I felt I have gotten more than what I have expected from this experience as I have not only learnt about Shochu but made a new friend!
