Wat je gaat doen

We’ll take you on a taste journey through traditional flavors by foraging edible insects and flowers in the Mezquital Valley.
We do require a minimum of two people for the experience.
The objective of the Teotlacualli Farm is foraging bugs. It promotes the territory, culture and pleasure of eating a delicacy directly from its source. We’ll also spend time among local plants and wildlife and you’ll learn how to cook with bugs, as we teach you their importance for the culture of Mexican gastronomy.

What a unique experience! JC, the host, provided transportation from Mexico city to the beautiful Mezquital valley, which was a nice morning drive. We had a scenic breakfast at the farm, which is centered around sustainability, then took a hike in the mountains where JC and his uncle explained various vegetation in mountains and how to spot ant nests. We came back to the farm for lunch (that had been prepared in the open fire pit all morning). We also cooked a delicate dish with ant eggs and flowers. It was definitely a good time with good people - JC and his family were very hospitable and accommodating. Highly recommended!

An awesome experience! JC and his uncle were extremely nice and knowledgeable, and I learnt a lot about a subject very unfamiliar to me. The farm is located in a picturesque hillside village about 90 minutes outside Mexico City. After a delicious breakfast, we went for an educational hike in the beautiful scenery, including a visit to an ant nest, before we had bug delicacies of various kind coupled with a very smooth mezcal. I would recommend this to anyone!

I wasn't actually able to go to this event (I'm not sure why Airbnb is asking me to leave a review) -- but I wanted to say that Jc is exceptionally courteous and kind and communicative. Even though I couldn't make it, he followed up with me and invited me to his shop to try mezcal. Unfortunately I wasn't able to, but his invitation made me feel very welcomed. I hope to check it out next time I'm in CDMX!
