Wat je gaat doen
The long and humble life of a tree has always fascinated me. On this experience you will learn a tree’s story, up close and personal. By combining elements of therapeutic “Forest bathing” with modern science, you will experience firsthand why these giants live successfully on our earth, and why we feel so good when we are amongst them. We will start our time together in a young forest near Kaslo, BC where you will learn about a tree's life-cycle, how they interact with other trees, and even how they communicate! Followed by a snack and drink in the forest, we will drive to our second location in an ancient cedar forest 1/2 hour west of Kaslo. Here you will experience an ancient forest through "forest bathing"; feel the roughness of the tree's bark, drink the same water the trees do, put your bare feet into their soil, and breath the immune boosting air. The ancient practice of Shinrin Yoku or forest bathing has been practiced for millennia around the globe, and for good reason. The focus of this experience is on nature appreciation and involves mild hiking totaling only 1.5 kms.

I am a conservation biologist who loves travelling almost as much as the place I live. I have over 20 years of experience in non-profit conservation biology across Canada, and truly appreciate the role that time in nature contributes to our general well-being. I have dedicated most of my career to non-profit work, the majority of which with the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and I am currently working with the Wildlife Conservation Society of Canada. This experience is co-hosted by my husband François Blouin who is also a wildlife biologist who specializes in species at risk in Canada. When we take people into natural spaces, we love to combine our passions of meaningful time in nature, music, art, and culture in unique combinations to ignite all the senses, ultimately making memories and stories to share.
