Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

A warm welcome awaits

Our charming bedroom has a queen bed, sofa, bistro table and chairs and is close to beach access at Southey Point as in our cover pic.The bathroom has a newly installed shower, washbasin and composting toilet. There is a closet and an outside deck space. Although the space doesn’t have a kitchen, there is a fridge, kettle, coffee maker and toaster for the convenience of our guests and continental breakfast items are provided. We look forward to welcoming guests to this idyllic part of the world.

Perched on the edge of the beautiful Walker Creek gully, this rustic and charming property is located on the Farm Stand road of Gibsons BC. Walk to Gibsons while enjoying the beauty of the old country road with all the farms. Remember, this is a working farm (not a fancy hotel) with earth friendly practices like composting toilets and food growing everywhere you look. Come enjoy a clean, cozy, peaceful spot to lay your head. 😁 Oh!!! And don't forget to ask for a tour of the mushroom farm. :)

One of our recent guests described our home perfectly 'Wellness Retreat fused with Country Cottage'. We aim to offer you an experience uniquely authentic: original art, great books to curl up with,a deck overlooking the water. You have our complete upper floor, private staircase and balcony to watch boats, sealions, eagles and, maybe an orca or two! High bank waterfront, sorry no children 6 or under. Guaranteed this is the "BEST" location! We are located along what is known as Gabriola's "Magic Mile", a scenic road which has a reputation for some of the most beautiful shoreline in BC and world-class sunset. House is sited on the oceanfront with a spectacular panoramic ocean view, facing the famous "Entrance Island Lighthouse". Gabriola's iconic sunset beach (also famous for storm or whale watching) is just next door (LITERALLY it's on your doorstep!).
