Oh, what a wonderful place to stay. The cottage is such a lovely old style farmhouse and is absolutely full of character. The cottage is well maintained and clean, and the rooms are a great size. Central heating Workshop really well and the windows open wide. It's pretty peaceful apart from a bit of road noise and a few cowes. It's easy to find as it's just up a little track next to the Old Smithy garage. Lyne is so friendly and really made our stay! Nothing is too much trouble, and she made us feel really at home! Her dogs are so cute too!

A lovely quiet location as a base to explore the Derbyshire Dales. The cottage is very cosy with everything you could want for your stay. Lots of walks right from the front door, including the Tissington Trail that takes you into Ashbourne, and a pub just minutes away on foot. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed in the Manor for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with our relations from Australia. We had a fantastic stay! The rooms were a perfect size and could fit us all in for games and entertaining ourselves, the kitchen was fully stocked with all the crockery and glassware we needed, the children loved the games room and the hot tub and the house was beautifully adorned with Christmas decorations. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this characterful house.

Tom’s place was great! Really. cosy, very clean and comfortable. The beds and bedding were divine. Tom was on hand to help with any queries. His lace actually was better than it appears in the photos! Highly recommend staying here!

We loved our stay here! It was the perfect peaceful getaway spot for a couple looking for some respite from the city. Plenty of hikes nearby, pubs to choose from and beautiful surroundings. Linda was really responsive and helpful and the barn had everything we needed, really comfy and cosy! We’ll be back for sure.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Richard’s barn! The place is located in a beautiful area – perfect for sightseeing and long hikes in nature. The barn itself is cozy and very well equipped with everything you might need to relax and enjoy your time. The indoor fireplace adds a lovely atmosphere, and the hot tub is a fantastic bonus after a day of exploring. The location is ideal – peaceful and quiet, yet close to many great trails and local attractions. Richard is an absolutely lovely host – super friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in nature with all the comforts. We’ll definitely be coming back! Zaneta and friends plus dog

Lovely clean gorgeous barn, ideal location with everything we needed to spend the weekend without leaving but equally we enjoyed walking to two local pubs. Adam communicated well and was accommodating to our needs. Perfect weekend break

Lovely property in an absolutely beautiful location. Owners were friendly and helpful, and made a fantastic pub recommendation! Seeing all the farm animals was also great. This was exactly the peaceful getaway that we needed, and we certainly hope to come again.

Sue’s place is absolutely stunning, photos do not do it justice! We were so lucky with the weather, but the place is stunning regardless. Super secluded and private, the garden is well enclosed meaning our German Shepard could have a great run around.. The hot tub was fantastic and was a welcome relief from the heat during the day when it was cooler. Super comfy bed…we probably brought a bit too much food in hindsight as we couldn’t fit everything in the fridge, so if you plan to do your own meals maybe bring along a cool box etc. Such an amazing stay, thanks so much Sue.

Stayed for a family weekend - 9 of us in total including 3 children. A lovely home and well set out with the bedrooms being large all having en-suites. The garden was a great space, allowing the kids to play in a large contained space and adults a space to relax with them in view. Also a small playground and football pitch next door which was an added extra we weren’t aware of. We spent a day at Drayton manor which was only 25 minutes away. A perfect property for a 3 generation family stay. Would highly recommend and would use again if staying in the area.

It was everything we had hoped for. Amazing views, I know everyone says that, but genuinely out of this world. The house is set out very well, Everything works as it should. Barry is very helpful. We had a great time, local suggestion would be the Shepherds rest pub for dinner at sunset,

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful stable-turned-home. The location was nicely secluded, peaceful and picturesque. The house itself was very well insulated and as depicted in the pictures. We only had to turn on the log burner once. If we had any questions, Julian was always quick to reply and super accommodating. Lots of cows nearby, if you love wildlife this is the perfect place for you!

Perfect shepherd’s hut - our favourite we have been to! There is a designated parking spot and you are greeted by a group of lovely friendly chickens. Tess sent very clear and useful directions beforehand so was easy to find. The hut has a fully equipped bathroom, kitchen area with microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and hob, and a really comfy bed with a tv. The view from the hut is stunning and we felt so at peace and relaxed here. Tess gave us a tour of the farm which we loved, and also kindly provided eggs, milk, butter and bread. We had an immaculate night’s sleep and recharged our batteries here. Highly recommend and would stay again!

We had a wonderful stay here! Everywhere was clean and the staff were so friendly and accommodating! Our daughter loved it, the tearoom and animals there was an added bonus! Thankyou for a lovely stay!

Nice place- great fire, plenty of fuel. Comfy bed. Nice village with good pub -King’s Head, with good food. Good walking nearby.

Lovely place and great hot tub. We particuarly appreciated the recommendations of pubs and things to do in the local area. A really lovely spot to start some hikes from, would recommend.

Had a superb Easter weekend stay in the Peaks. Dominic and family were very welcoming and made us feel at home with great local recommendations. Will be back for another stay I'm sure.

Gatehouse Cottage is a lovely 'home from home' find that exceeded our expectations. On arrival we were introduced to the owners, Lesley and Graham who assured us of their support should we need it. There was a lovely welcome pack with essentials: milk, tea,coffee, butter, breakfast cerials & eggs, as well as lovely extras: Croissants, home made cake, jam and marmalade👍. The cottage is spacious and airy with lovely views of the garden. There is a very sunny patio with easy access from the french doors. The cottage is excellent for anyone with mobility issues. Everything is clean and well maintained. We booked Gatehouse Cottage as it was close to The Venue where we were attending a family wedding. You can walk to The Venue within 15 minutes or book a taxi costing £3.50. (Elland Taxi). We had family staying close by and Lesley was very accomodating when they visited us - including their dog. Excellent find and can highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at the Milking Parlor over Easter. Great spot with amazing views. The cottage was well equiped, comfy bed and everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We visited Bakewell, Haddon hall & did a 6 mile loop around Chatsworth, its estate & villages on a lovely sunny Easter Sunday.

A perfect family getaway from it all weekend at this idyllic little cottage. Norma gave such quick responses and clear instructions throughout and we absolutely loved Spinney Farm Cottage, its location is sublime. Everywhere was immaculate, and I’m pretty fussy, and we didn’t use the car once in all our stay as there are walks on your doorstep and an amazing little pub down in Bonsall. Thoroughly recommend

It was a quick couple of days stay in a very cute accommodation and the scenery was outstanding. Karen greeted us on arrival and offered us milk for a nice cup of tea. Would highly recommend for a quick getaway in the countryside and close enough to town.

Stayed here during early May and it was absolutely lovely! Wonderful views in every direction and more local walks than you can possibly do in a weekend! Simon was also lovely and happily offered to get the bbq out if requested. If you enjoy nice walks and great scenery this place is a no brainer + the old farmhouse aesthetic of the building is beautiful, cannot recommend enough!
