We had a wonderful stay! The place is beautiful, peaceful, and tucked away in nature – perfect for disconnecting and relaxing. It’s important to know in advance how to get there and to clearly explain the address and the name of the place to your taxi driver, as there is no reception once you get close to San Mateo. Alberto was very kind and helpful, and always made sure we could get to the town center whenever we needed. Highly recommended!

Casa chuparosas es más divino y místico aún en persona que en fotos! Desde que llegas el olor a incienso la vista te encantan y te enamoran! Opi súper amable nos recibió a todas y nos mostró el lugar. Era la primera vez que íbamos a la sierra de Oaxaca importante que sepas que si bien te puedes transportar sin problema la casa está está a unos 23/30 minutos de San José del pacífico. La verdad es que a pesar de la movilidad no nos importó por que la casa es preciosa. Decidimos hacer cena con ellos la última noche y puedo decir que valió totalmente la pena. Un ambiente íntimo y comida deliciosa, íbamos en viaje de amigas. Muchas gracias Marian, opi y Alex!

My stay at Janet’s place was absolutely perfect. The hut was immaculate, roomy, and very cool. There are two levels with the best spot for writing or reading that overlooks her garden and the valley beyond. Also a small library! The kitchen space is simple with everything I needed (electric camp stove, mini fridge, pots/pans, plates/utensils and filtered water). She provided towels and extra blankets. There is even a sweet little fireplace as the (Spring) nights got chilly. Outside was my own patio where I spent plenty of time just sitting and marveling at the surroundings. There’s a clothes line in back. Janet, herself is a warm-hearted delight! She gave me so much information (on & off script) and showed me around the village, introducing me to everyone we crossed paths with. She set me up with some extras and helped with communication. Sometimes we just talked, but she also afforded me plenty of privacy as well. She made me feel welcome and special. Janet is a true gem❤️.

Excelente lugar para conectar con la naturaleza, las cabañas están muy bonitas y son nuevas, hay agua caliente y tiene una vista increíble.

Increíble experiencia. La cabaña es hermosa y los anfitriones muy atentos. San José es un lugar muy tranquilo, por lo que la estancia es perfecta para relajarse y descansar.

Regina's place is incredible -- the photos can't do it justice! Peaceful and quiet with unbelievable views. Regina met us in San Mateo which helped get our bearings and pick up food for the week. Very unlikely you'll have mobile reception, but the area easily navigated without a car via mototaxi/taxi. The house is amazing, personally designed and totally self sufficient. Total disconnection and relaxation possible -- it was a like a dream. Already planning how to get back...

This is a magical spot that grants you access to magical land and a magical town. Go with someone you love and sit beside the fire at night. Listen to the birds in the morning. Wander into town for tacos and tamales. Go see Casa Abuela for some grub and get a hug!
