Magical Old Town, Past and Present
Our exploration of the Old Town Plaza will begin with coffee, tea and biscochitos on the balcony of our home, looking out over the original town square and historic San Felipe Church. We will overlook history as well, and gaze back from the Tiwa people on who’s land Old Town was built, to life on the plaza during the Spanish, Mexican and American colonial periods. Next we will undertake a walking tour of the plaza with a focus on the old adobe architecture and the stories associated with the buildings and smaller placitas that make up Old Town, using historical photos and visuals to support the information. This stroll will include secrets and lore unknown even to most Albuquerque residents, interaction with some of the "old timers" that live and work here, and pointers what to see and do and where to eat, tailored to the needs and interests of each group. Old Town is a valuable community resource and there are frequent impromptu happenings- quinceaneras, vintage car parades, etc. The tour will embrace these spontaneous events as they occur making the visit to Old Town even more vibrant and personal. Please contact for custom tour times. Se habla español. Other things to note As planned the tour involves one flight of stairs.
Pottery Class
Great for individuals, families, and groups of any size. Fun corporate team-building! Our pottery "experiences" are taught by local ceramic artists who volunteer their time, and 100% of net profits to charity. Paseo Pottery has joined the rank of a growing number of businesses embracing a radical form of conscious capitalism: cover costs, then donate rest to improve society. We start each pottery class by doling out drinks (we’ve got a variety of beverages to choose from, and you’re welcome to BYOB as well). Then we take students on a tour of our studio where over a dozen Santa Fe ceramic artists come to create. Paseo Pottery has been part of the local art scene for three decades. All of our classes are one-time, two-hour classes that prioritize the experience of touching, forming, and manipulating clay into expressions of art. The classes are experience-based, meaning that at the end of each session students recycle their work back into the clay mound. Students do not, however, walk away empty handed as they receive a $15 credit to chose a piece of pottery from the gallery, which is full of pottery handcrafted by local Santa Fe artists.

Choose your color and texture palette! 3. We will learn to wind yarn onto bobbins, so you can begin your creation. 4. We always start simple and learn the basic steps of weaving. Shuttle, feet, beat! 5. As you get comfortable, we can start adding texture, colors, and design with different techniques. 6. When you near the end of your time, we will take your piece off the loom and finish the ends by knotting the warp. 7. You will walk out the door with your woven creation! Other things to note: I am flexible, write me if you have a special time or another request. We might be able to work something out. Eat or snack before you come, eating while weaving is difficult!
Nature Immersion-Unplug in the desert
Have you ever noticed that you feel better after being outside? Scientific studies are now showing that time in nature can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and improve your sleep and creativity. In this guided experience, you will unplug from the stresses of daily life and enjoy spending time in the high desert foothills of Albuquerque. This is not a hard hike and not really a nature walk either. In fact, we may barely cover a mile and it will involve plenty of sitting. This is good for people of all physical abilities, who might be a little hesitant to explore the outdoors on their own or who want to unwind and slowdown. And don’t worry….this is not religiously based, you aren’t required to share any of your thoughts if you don’t want to and there will be no awkward drumming sessions! Instead, we’ll use the sweeping views of the mountains and valley to hone your quiet observation skills, give you some time to de-stress and perhaps you’ll trip over some emotional insights along the way. There will be several segments, each with a different focus, and we’ll end with a cup of coffee in the outdoors. The hope is that you will come away feeling a sense of well-being. **** Great for teams looking for a bonding experience and for a way to de-stress. Note: Pit toilets are at the parking lots, but not along the trails. Allow extra time to pay for parking and use the bathroom

Feed, walk with, groom and love a rescue horse
Visit New Mexico's expansive high plains, roll up your sleeves for morning chores and then spend some very special, hands on time with our varied horse herd. Walkin N Circles Rescue Ranch is home for up to 50 horses who have been abandoned, neglected, abused or surrendered. After first addressing a horse's physical health, the real work begins to regain their trust, to gently teach them how to be safe around humans, and ultimately find them a loving, forever home. After pouring yourself a cup of coffee, hop onto the hay wagon for a trip out to several paddocks. At each stop you participate in a teeny bit of daily chores: tie down a feed bag, strain water, muck stalls, and prep feed for the following day. Guests are then invited to halter & walk a horse to an area where you can spend time grooming, petting and basically giving him/her the social interaction that is important for their happiness. As one of our guests, Danika, wrote in her review, "you can become as involved as you want". Everything is done with a ranch person and you will never feel unsafe. Photo opportunities, horse hugs and warm fuzzy feelings will abound! For liability reasons, an Airbnb reservation is required to enter our property. Being a social impact experience, Airbnb has waived their fee! 100% of the proceeds received for the tour goes to the care of the horses at Walkin N Circles Ranch.
