I'm an architect, and originally designed the studio as a workspace at the rear of our home for my photographer husband, Ian. We've recently converted it to a self-contained dwelling, so we can share what we love about the city. My returning guests love how close we are to the city, yet you'll feel you’ve escaped it. You can get to the airport quickly and directly access native bush walks. Our unique village hosts Wellington's best bakery and Chocolatier! Grab a bite and a beverage here or jump on a bus heading into the city.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is a unique, romantic place on the South Coast. Stunning views, opposite a swimming and dog beach plus rock pools, it’s great for walks. With a comfy double bed and steep stairs, it’s private and quiet - brilliant on a sunny day, cosy in a storm. There's a fantastic cafe around the corner; shops are 10 minutes’ walk away. The main Island Bay bus stop is nearby with regular buses. It's a 9 minute drive to the airport and 15 minutes to downtown Wellington. Small dogs on request.

Our BnB is homely, a little quirky & best suited to those who travel relatively light. Self service breakfast is included. There are 2 spaces (bedroom ± separate kitchen/bathroom) a few steps apart & linked by a covered walkway. The cosy bedroom has a queen size bed, desk for work or eating, good WiFi & comfortable seating. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking & the bathroom has a great shower. The nook outside the bedroom is perfect for a morning coffee.
