Our twin cabins, Merle and Scout, are perfect for families or friends looking to travel together but want their own safe indoor space.

Each cabin sleeps up to four, with one double bed and two twins.

Features include modern kitchens with live wood counters, gas stove, coffee maker and all the basic cooking equipment, living areas with gas fireplaces and a tv & full bathrooms.

Linens and towels are provided.

Wapanacki is pet friendly! Please see info about our pet fee in the notes below.

De ruimte
Our twin cabins, Merle and Scout, sleep up to eight people and provide the perfect space for small groups that want to enjoy each other's company but also wish for a bit of privacy.

Once the camp office and director's office, the Twins have been thoughtfully reimagined as cozy modern cabins with everything you need to enjoy a few days in the woods of Vermont.

Merle Cabin has a separate bedroom with a double bed while Scout Cabin has an open layout; both have a sleeping loft with two twin beds. We provide clean linens and blankets for the one double bed and two twins.

Each has a modern kitchen with gas stove, live wood counter with stools to hang out or eat. The kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, plates, glasses, mugs, and all the basic cooking utensils.

Full bathrooms have a stall shower with great water pressure; fresh towels are provided.

The cabins have a cozy living area with a gas fireplace with tv.

The Twins are fully insulated and stay cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. (We've been there when it was -20F!!)

Nestled in the hills of the Northeast Kingdom, Camp Wapanacki was founded as a summer camp in 1938. Established as a camp for blind children, and later run by the Girl Scouts, Camp Wapanacki is being reborn as a four-season retreat.

Toegang voor gasten
Wapanacki is comprised of 250 acres of woodland, plus a 25-acre private lake for swimming and non-motorized boats. There are miles of trails to explore, perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking and biking in the summer.

Kayaks and canoes are available for all guests.

Guests have access to our main clubhouse, which features ping-pong, darts, couches for lounging and a porch with grill and picnic tables (in the summer). NOTE: due to the current worldwide health crisis, you may not be able to enter the clubhouse during your stay. You will always be able to use the grill and the picnic tables in the porch.

We have multiple firepits on property, including the original campfire pit right by the beach.

There is no washer/dryer IN the cabins, but you will have access to a shower house with free laundry facilities during your stay. (Open May 15 - Oct 15 only)

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
We have multiple cabins for rent at Camp Wapanacki, so you may have the entire property to yourself, but other renters may be there too. Get in the camp spirit and say hello!

In addition to Merle and Scout, we have a few other cabins on property. If you are interested in coming with friends and renting additional cabins, please let us know!

NOTE: We do have a wifi "zone" on property but please be prepared to be unplugged while you are in your cabin.

NOTE to those bringing PETS: We do encourage you to bring your dog, but please note that we do have a fee of $50 per pet. We ask you to leave your pet fee in cash on departure. If you do not leave cash, we will request $75 (per pet) of your paid security deposit as a result.

WINTER:
The roads to camp are plowed by the city of Hardwick and they do a great job! Our main camp road is plowed by our awesome caretaker. That said, we recommend having a 4-wheel drive vehicle when visiting in the winter months.

For those who plan to snowshoe: Please stay on the snow while wearing snowshoes; do NOT attempt to walk on the stairs or porches of any building while wearing snowshoes or other shoe attachments with spikes such as “Yak Tracks”.

Wapanacki feels remote but is just 10 minutes from all the conveniences in Hardwick including a grocery store, liquor store, pharmacy, local food co-op, woodfire pizza/American fare restaurant, great diner, and gas station.

Camp is a great base for experiencing all Vermont has to offer. Stowe, Jay's Peak, and Smugglers Notch are all about an hour away. Hill Farmstead and Lost Nation Breweries are about a 30-minute drive. Barr Hill / Caledonia Spirits distillery is right in Hardwick. There are also multiple hiking, biking, and ATV trails minutes away.

I'm a marketing consultant with a focus on domestic and international tourism. One of my clients and very good friends, Andrew, owns a bike tour and rental company called Urban AdvenTours in Boston. One day in 2014, he called and said "I'm thinking of buying an old summer camp." to which I replied "Can we build cabins to rent out!?" and that's essentially exactly what has happened. Wapanacki is his pet project and he has invested all his spare time in the last few years to renovating and preserving the property so that friends and guests can enjoy camp too. In addition to working with several bike tour companies that offer daily city tours, I also work with food tour companies and Destination Management Organizations. I went to college at University of Vermont, so the state holds a dear place in my heart. I visit as often as I'm able but I mainly manage guests bookings and inquires from afar. As Andrew and I both have backgrounds in tourism, we are committed to providing an excellent experience for all guests and hope that they will love Wapanacki as much as we do.
