Located just three miles north of downtown Hilo, right next to Honolii beach park and surf spot, the small plantation style neighborhood of Paukaa has just what your looking for in a clean, comfortable, quite place to stay. Growing up, and living on the Big Island, I was always drawn to this area.
The room I have to offer has a queen size bed, and the common bathroom for the guest is adjacent to that, complete with walk in shower. There is a great view from the lanai entering the house ,with an ocean view to one side and a pasture view on the other side. I live in the master bedroom on the other end of the house and have my own private bath and shower, so the common bathroom is primarily for guests in the house and general use.
The kitchen is at the heart of this home, and is fully accessible for use by guests. The large island in the kitchen is the hub of all kitchen entertaining, but feel free to relax out on the lanai, or find a couch to kick back and enjoy a cold drink or snack. If that's the case, you might as well put in a load of laundry, found downstairs. Wi-fi is also available
Sitting at the top of a small paved road, the property backs up against a large plot of land formerly used for sugar cane, but now provides grazing land for a few goats and some cows in the distance. Look the other way from the pasture view on the lanai, and you see the ocean, and the sunrise view.
Part of the "old Mamaloha Highway" is still used as a scenic drive,or walk, to the local beach park of Honolii, just around the corner. This short and beautiful adventure to the beach takes you over several old bridges and provides great waterfall views of the Honolii stream, and the smaller creeks that feed into it.
Attention to detail was considered in many aspects to the home, as many skilled craftsmen helped me during the construction of the house several years ago. My intension was to always have a place for friends and visitors to stay and enjoy this beautiful home, and this great area that it is nestled in. Thanks, and hope to meet you soon, Jeremiah
