Private room in pretty cottage in terrace of six 18th C. cottages (c. 1795). In the countryside yet close to all amenities. The bedroom is cosy in winter but airy in summer with views over the garden, and guests can breakfast either in the kitchen with its AGA cooker or the sunny conservatory.

De ruimte
Comfortable and welcoming in a house with all modern conveniences including central heating, AGA cooker in kitchen and sunny conservatory for breakfasts.
Guests are encouraged to use the other rooms with Sky TV, Wifi and the private garden when weather permits. Mobile phone coverage is erratic, because of the stone walls, but Wifi is fine and my landline is available for emergencies.
I must emphasise that this is my home - it is not a commercial space available to rent all year round. I consider visitors to be my guests in my home. Therefore, I am a little at a loss to understand questions about guests having to share my country garden ( it is not a “yard”, which in Ireland us a small, paved space), living room, conservatory etc. with me.

Toegang voor gasten
The bedroom and bathroom. Guests are also welcome to the kitchen and conservatory, and also to my living room with tv and open fire in winter. They are also encouraged to sit in the garden in summer and any time the weather permits. I am book lover and have a large collection of books on Irish architecture, history, gardens and Ireland generally, which I am happy to share with guests.

Naas,, County Kildare, Ierland

Rathmore is a quiet enclave of six terraced 18th century cottages offering peace and tranquility. They were originally home and workplace to the French Huguenot silkweavers who came to Ireland after the religious wars of the 17th and 18th century in France and was originally known as Silk Row.

At the same time we are within a few minutes drive to Kill Village, Naas town and an hour to the capital city, Dublin.

We are also ideally situated for access to County Wicklow with its beautiful scenery and historic GLENDALOUGH. The nearby Blessington Lakes and Wicklow Mountains are ideal for either a relaxing stroll or more strenuous hill-walking.
The Avon Ri Adventure Centre in Blessington has abseiling and other activity sports available.

For golfers there are four or five golf courses in the area which welcome guests.

For guests interested in gardening, there are several well-known gardens, including Jimi Blake’s “Hunting Brook Gardens” and “June Blake’s Garden” noted for her spectacular Tulip and Dahlia displays. Both of these are about 30 minutes away. The lovely 19th century walled garden at Russborough, currently being restored by the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland (RHSI) is 49 minutes drive away outside Blessington. Other notable Irish gardens such as Altamont, Patthana Garden and the gardens of Wicklow are also a short journey away.

For horse racing enthusiasts there are three Racecourses within half an hour’s driving - Punchestown Racecourse for National Hunt, Naas Racecourse for Flat and NH, and the Curragh Racecourse, the headquarters of Irish Flat racing. I am happy to drive guests to Punchestown during the Festival Week, usually the end April / beginning of May.

Ireland is also a renowned horse breeding country, with Kildare being "The Bloodstock County." The international bloodstock sales are held at the famous GOFFS BLOODSTOCK SALES Compex ((URL HIDDEN) a mere 15 minute drive away, with the Tattersalls' Sales Complex approximately an hours drive.
The Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens are also less than an hour's drive at Kildare Town.
Horseback riding and trekking are also available locally.

Russborough House, just outside Blessington, is a beautiful 18th century classical mansion in a glorious setting. It was the home of the late Sir Alfred Beit and his wife Clementine (Mitford). After his death, Sir Alfred left the house, with its priceless collection of Old Masters, paintings and furniture, to the Irish people. The house is open to visitors from Easter to November with the grounds open all year except for the Christmas period.

For guests who can't resist the call of a little retail therapy, there are excellent boutiques in Naas, the Kildare Village Outlet Shopping at Kildare town, and either the Dundrum Town Centre or Dublin's Grafton Street, both 50 minutes away.

A great variety of food is available locally - from casual dining in Naas and Kill to good food in the local pub, the Dewdrop Inn in Kill. Not to mention the renowned steaks at the Ballymore Inn in Ballymore Eustace or the Brown Bear just outside Naas.

A wide variety of entertainment is available in Kill, Naas and the surrounding towns and villages, with many bars and hotels hosting traditional Irish music. I am delighted to help with bookings and directions.

For those travelling for business, Rathmore is very convenient for the high-tech, pharmaceutical and financial businesses located at the CITYWEST Business Parks, with less than 30 minute travelling time. In Naas, the KERRY GROUP International Development and Worldwide HQ, is also nearby.
