We invite you to the second season of this custom built tree dwelling. This abode is called "Madawaska", which means "where two rivers join". Part tree house, part tiny house, the dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a private deck (on posts with trees growing up through). Structures are accessed by a SPIRAL STAIRCASE. We've used vintage and salvaged materials when possible. STRUCTURE #1: a bedroom, with an entire wall of south facing windows, affording stunning river views. Includes KING SIZE BED (or two twin beds upon request). STRUCTURE #2: includes a small kitchen and small dining area with large windows for water views, a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with sitting area, and river views. Kitchen includes: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven). Both structures have views across a river bay, and down river to where the Back River meets the Kennebec River (hence "Madawaska") just before both flow into open ocean, past Seguin Island (where George Washington commissioned a lighthouse).

AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage. The dwellings are well insulated and contain heating units.

THE VIEWS: Gorgeous views down the Back River, and across the river lie hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land. Part of the year, this tree dwelling will be used for the Seguin Artist in Residence Program at the Back River Institute, which is under development. Use of KAYAK's and CANOE's are included with rental and available at anytime during your stay

NOTE: We also have a brand new tree dwelling with a wood fired cedar hot tub and a second bedroom, which can be converted into a living room space upon request.

Exactly as pictured and described! This is my first airbnb experience - I stayed at Madawaska with my 9-yr. old son, it was an early birthday gift and we both absolutely loved it! Marsha is quick to respond to questions and left thorough information about the treehouse and area activities. The amenities were a notch above the best hotel and added to the serene treehouse experience. We will definitely be back!! Thank you, Marsha!

This tree house was everything we dreamed and more! Marsha was a gracious and kind host who was more than available to answer any question we had and provide direction with the area. For our first time in Maine and for our honeymoon, we couldn't have picked a better spot. The view you wake up to is worth the trip all on its own! We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I have been coming to the Georgetown area for years but our stay at Madawaska put a fresh perspective on the area. Our intent was to spend as much time on the premises as possible to enjoy the natural beauty and proximity to the outdoors that the treehouse offers, and we enjoyed every single minute. If you feel the need for civilization, Bath is a mere 10 minutes away, and there are several beautiful parks, Audubon preserves and beaches within a 30-mile radius. While the other two tree dwellings operated by the hosts are within view, all three have been situated such that they face the scenic inlet and not each other, so a sense of privacy is maintained. The structures are well designed with little space going to waste and finished with a tasteful aesthetic. If you’ve ever spent time aboard a boat, you will understand and appreciate the functionality that can be built into smaller spaces. The owners provide linens, towels, paper products, salt & pepper, etc. - if it’s not here, you probably don’t need it. The screened porch, with the thoughtful addition of wool blankets on each chair, is a relaxing space to read in the evenings and listen to the hooting of a nearby barred owl. The bed is very comfortable and the wall of windows offers the long view out to the estuary which is visible even from the pillows. We enjoyed a cool afternoon snuggled under the covers with a good book watching the pine trees sway in the wind. We found the kitchen to be perfectly adequate for preparing simple meals, and it served as a comfortable dining room as well. A new clean charcoal grill is provided, along with charcoal and lighter fluid. The full bath has storage space for everything, and the hot water runs fast and plentiful. Marsha is a terrific host. We did not have the opportunity to meet her, but she provided clear directions and plenty of information, and responded promptly to emailed questions. We highly recommend this wonderful spot and hope to return next year.

My sister and I stayed in the tree house dwelling called "Madawaska" Not only did this magical tree house leave a forever impression in our hearts and in our souls. It also gave us a quiet, calm and peaceful experience that we will take with us for the rest of our lives!

A wonderful experience in a very unique treehouse. The view is simply amazing. We took our chairs & drinks down to the Marsh and sat there to watch the sunset. So peaceful and beautiful. We can't wait to go back.

We only live about 30 minutes away from Georgetown but it felt like we were waaaaay away. The buildings were great, beautifully designed and decorated. The old windows in the front of the buildings were an inspired touch. Can't tell you how many pictures I took out the bedroom windows. The setting was absolutely gorgeous, loved the deer eating down in front. We really appreciated being able to take a canoe and kayak out on the Back River. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. As I said in the log, "it was a great weekend to get away and we got what we needed, even if we didn't know exactly what it was we needed."
