Welcome to Villa Louise App'Arts & private Gallery of Robert Prouty – Prouty'Art
Villa Louise is a family (owned and managed) registered property company created at the end of 2012.
Why Villa Louise ?
People from Saint Laurent de la Cabrerisse told me that the house had been built around 1930 for or by Louise du Plessis Mauron de Grénédan.
I tried to learn more about her by consulting Internet and I discovered that her father was originally from the same part of Brittany as I am and that she died in 1960, my year of birth.
This was enough to convince me to pay tribute to her, without knowing her at all, by giving her name to the Company and the house.
Why Villa Louise App’Arts ?
The house is made of 2 apartments, running through from the North to the South side of the building.
Mine is on the 1rst floor and I share it with my companion Robert Prouty who is an Artist (Painter), when he is not in his house and Art studio of Opoul-Périllos, a beautiful little village of the Pyrénées Orientales, at 40 minutes drive from here.
The North wing of the ground floor flat was my mother’s, who joined me in the Languedoc Roussillon in September 2012, a few little years after my father died; and the South wing was my son’s, at the time looking for a job in the area.
Luckily, my son quickly found another job and is now living with his companion, not far from here but, unfortunately, my mother joined my father, far too soon … so, the ground floor flat is unoccupied when family or friends don’t visit us, for a week-end or a holiday.
This is why I propose a “homestay accomodation” by renting the North or South wing of this furnished and equipped apartment so as to help me pay for the maintenance and the bills of the house and also to finance the works in process and yet to come; the list is long because we still have a lot of projects and ideas in our heads !
So, if you stay at Villa Louise, you might see us walking with a paint brush or a hammer in the hand, working in the house or in the garden…
Or you might see me, in my office, doing accounting, updating our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) pages or working for a client of my other activity as a self-employed, designing promotional items (Watiz’Art Pro)…
Or sometimes, escaping on our bicycles or with our rucksacks, for a few hours or for the day !
And, if he is inspired, you will maybe see Robert, installed in front of his easel ?
Why App’Arts ?
Because ALL the walls of the house, almost without exception, are covered by beautiful paintings since Villa Louise is the private Gallery of Robert Prouty and propose a permanent exhibition of his work.
And, with the precious help and involvement of this multi-talented Artist, other than painting, we brought Villa Louise back to life when she was lying dormant in oblivion; she has become today an Artist’s house, unique and welcoming. People say that she is like us; people say that they feel good here !
Travellers, hikers, cyclo-hikers, stop over at Villa Louise !
Hiking, Cycling, Art show and Bed !
