Having spent my youth growing up on dairy farms in the small Otway townships of Bambra and Deans Marsh, I've always enjoyed the natural surroundings of the Otway Ranges and the Surf Coast and have acquired lots of local knowledge and insights which I am very happy to share.
My grandfather built the first private residence in the same street as the iconic Split Point Lighthouse. We would often make the trip over the hill to stay at the house where we spent many enjoyable hours exploring the Painkalac River, beaches and the hinterland with our extended families and friends.
The house was burnt to the ground in the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires with only the chimney left standing. My parents later rebuilt and have retired there.
My wife, Janine, and I enjoy reading, bush walking and bird watching and are happiest when body surfing the waves at Fairhaven Beach and Kennett River, where we met many years ago.
