Truffle is our sister gite next to Walnut (gites can be booked as one) The two bedroomed stone cottage sits on the upper slopes of the Ceou valley overlooking the honey coloured buildings of our hamlet, Le Peyruzel. From here you can enjoy lovely far reaching views across the valley and hills and it is the perfect place to sit, relax and watch the sun come up in the mornings and the sunsets in the evenings.
The new swimming pool fitting for the 2017 season is a stunning addition to the property.
Truffle is the half of our other cottage Walnut, both of them are totally independent of each other with their own entrance and terrace area. There is the shared space of the pool and terrace, the courtyard and the laundry so a chance to meet your neighbour if you wish too. The gite is made of stone and would once have been the dwelling side of the original old farm building whilst the cattle would have lived next door in Walnut. There is lots of exposed stone and a wealth of beams so it is oozing with character. Downstairs the layout is open plan with the staircase going up through the middle. A lovely handmade wooden kitchen greets you with loads of cupboard space, a fan oven, gas hob, fridge freezer - in fact everything you'll need to feel at home.
The sitting and dining area has windows to one side and french door opening on to your private patio and terrace area. The terrace has a lovely big wooden table and parasol and a bar-b-que with some charcoal and fire lighters to get you cooking. Indoors the stone tiled floors will help you to stay cool all summer. This season we have fitted a lovely big wood burner in Truffle, so if your visiting early or later in the season you will be able to throw on some logs and get nice and cosy. Upstairs you will find a pretty master bedroom with a standard double bed with a lovely big window that opens out on to a Juliette balcony letting the early morning sunshine flood in. The bathroom is fitted with bath and shower fitting.
The twin room has a full size single bed and a custom made staircase up to the top bed always popular with the children. We'll leave to you work out who goes where! Just outside this room on the landing there is also an extra full size single wooden truckle bed. Truffle's terrace enjoys a sunny aspect until afternoon and then benefits from some shade. From the terrace you can also go through the jasmine covered archway into a small grassed private garden, here again you will find sun and shade and be able to sit and overlook the countryside views across the valley. Truffle is well suited to families with toddler aged young children as downstairs is all on one level with only a tiny step from the kitchen to the living area. It is also fitted with a child gate at the top of the stairs. Extra gate can be provided if required

There is an independent laundry room with sink, washing machine and dryers, also airers and a washing line. If you need to store bikes we have secure storage for them.

I am married to Jerry and we have three children now all grown up and living independently. We have recently moved to live permanently in the stunning Perigord Noir, Dordogne region of France. We have just bought a small house for us to live in with two really charming two bedroomed gites. Until our move we ran a Christmas Decorating business that we set up 10 years ago. Jerry worked full time for the Charity Age UK and I owned an interiors shop in Eastbourne, close to where we lived in the UK. Our plan now is to enjoying exploring this beautiful area, learn to speak French. (Jerry is already pretty good) and enjoy running a small gite busines . We are both very sociable people and love to entertain, walk, cycle and ski. We are also learning to love gardening!
We're are really excited about having people come to stay with us here as our experience via Airbnb in our last house was a huge success. We surprised ourselves with how easy it was to host people in our own home and were both looking forward to offering our guests their own accommodation and private space this time. It will be a pleasure to meet and greet new people and share with them our favourite places to visit and discover.
