We were alarmed to hear your husband was bitten by a spider and had an allergic reaction. As soon as that was brought to our attention, we promptly apologized and refunded you 1 night's stay. Bug bites happen pretty frequently in the rainforest, but we still felt issuing a refund for your troubles was the right thing to do.
In speaking to you after this, no mention was made of cockroaches or of the issues with the water. Had those things been brought to our attention, we surely would've remedied them and/or offered you more than the night's refund we gave. When we sent a follow-up message after your departure to check on your husband and ask if anything else should be brought to our attention, we got no reply.
We too wish that plumbing in CR were as modern as in the States! Unfortunately, it's just not that way anywhere here. All else considered, it's always our goal that guests have an exceptional experience, and we're genuinely sorry your time with us fell short of that. We hope your stay was otherwise a pleasant one, and that you were able to enjoy some of the magic of Costa Rica nevertheless.
