The Hawthorne Room offers a Queen size bed, a tiled fireplace, and a large bureau. This peaceful room is on the 2nd floor overlooking our grounds.
The room is named after the beloved author of "The Scarlet Letter". Elizabeth Sherman and Henry Thoreau prepared a vegetable garden for the newlyweds Nathaniel Hawthorne and Sophia Peabody upon their move to Concord, MA. Along with Thoreau, Emerson, Peabody and Sherman, Hawthorne was part of the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.
