The guest has now given some feedback, as follows. He said he was not sure what he could use in the room: As this room is entirely dedicated to guests, all supplies in the room are for guests. If he was uncertain, all he had to do was ask. Someone was available at all times. Size of room: Our description states that it is "snug." We included several photos. Cleanliness, dust: The room was thoroughly cleaned one day before the guest arrived, and this included all surfaces. The guest stated that we were late at check-in: We always try to be present at check-in, but this requires the guest to make a phone call to let us know when he is close to our location. The guest did not do so, even though we asked. The room was open so that he could check in if we were not there. As soon as we heard the guest arrive, one of us (Charles) immediately greeted him and asked if there was anything he needed. The guest had some issue regarding location (which we cannot read because he left all his feedback in his native language): We provided links to maps showing our precise location, and so far as I know, he found us without difficulty.
This was a guest who had no prior feedback, only joined airbnb a few days before visiting us, did not create a profile for himself, and did not even provide a self-photo. We accepted him anyway, and we are very disappointed by his response. He made no criticisms while he was visiting us, and we had no indication that he was not satisfied. He made some special requests (for instance, he asked for some butter) which we provided. I cannot imagine what more we could have done to satisfy this guest's expectations.
