We are retired professionals (college professor and engineer) with grown children who live nearby. Clean soft sheets, fresh towels, and a simple breakfast is available from 7:30 to 9:00 AM with coffee/tea/juice, fresh fruit, cereal, English muffins, etc. (Kathy keeps our floors so clean you can walk around in white socks and they don't get dirty!) Please note that we do not charge a cleaning fee or any security deposit since we have never had a guest who required one.
Another room with queen bed on the main level is available as a separate listing under "Jungle Adventure room". If you want to book BOTH rooms a discount may be offered, please inquire.
There is wireless internet, large driveway for parking, and quick access to 390 expressway and downtown Rochester is only 15 minutes away. This is a quiet neighborhood and our guests so far have slept very well. Washer/dryer available. No smoking in the house. We have no pets. We try to leave outside shoes by the door to help keep the house clean. We have one HD TV with DVR, BluRay player, and many DVD's in the living room and you are welcome to use it for your favorite show or movie any time. The main level of the house is fully air conditioned (the few days that it is needed) with a mini-split system. The downstairs bedroom is naturally cool and benefits from the general house AC, but also has three small screened windows that open.
Our beautiful and well stocked kitchen is available for your use as are spices, condiments, etc. so you don't have to buy.
Our street runs for a mile from the Western end of the Kodak industrial park to Unity Hospital at Park Ridge and the Villages at Unity, a senior/assisted living community. The Erie Canal is nearby with a bike trail running East and West along the canal and North to Lake Ontario. The large Greece Ridge Mall is a half mile away as are numerous restaurants (see the Guide, page top right). The airport is 12 minutes south and pick-up/drop-off can be arranged.
We cater to and have hosted dozens of doctors interviewing for residencies at Unity Hospital (soon to be RGH). Depending on time of day we will pick you up at the bus station or airport and can take you to the interview in the morning. Washing and ironing are available.
Our location is NOT convenient for bus transportation. The closest bus stop is at the mall or Unity Hospital (about 1 mile).
Please note that our pictures ARE TYPICAL of the way we keep our house. What you see when you arrive will be as good or better than the pictures. We are always improving.
Stay with us and join the family until you must move on.
Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch. Leo y entiendo Espanol medidamente bien y mejor que lo hablo.

We try to let our guests decide when they want to chat with us. If you want quiet time, you shall have it.
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
We have a large driveway that offers plenty of parking. Parking near the house to the right of the garage and in the turnaround are prime spots.
Some potential guests are concerned about dampness in our downstairs room. No one has ever found it to be uncomfortable. This and the adjoining room were part of an addition we made to the original house and the walls are well insulated thermally and acoustically. It used to be our daughter's bedroom and has its own thermostat. In mid summer we run a dehumidifier to control humidity (when we do not have guests) and the room is naturally cool with three screened windows that also open for fresh air.
No smoking in the house
No pets please. There are many potential guests with allergies.
Try to leave 'outside' shoes in the entrance room. (We are not fanatical about this.)
You are free to go anywhere in the house and may use the living room to sit and read or watch TV or sit at the kitchen table with a laptop.
Guests are financially responsible for any serious damage (other than normal wear-and-tear) caused directly by them.
Jim is a retired engineer (Kodak & ITT Space Systems) and Kathy is a retired college professor. We like to golf, kayak, bicycle, and read. Kathy knits and volunteers. Jim has many hobbies including woodworking, metalworking, and restoring old machinery for same.
