Villa Yuyu is a vacation residence that epitomizes contemporary Balinese rustic chic. Interiors are appointed with mostly weathered bleached teak tropical furniture, as well as beautifully crafted wood furnishings, a huge Suar table, suar top bar and open kitchen, a few elaborate art pieces and touches of Indonesian traditional wood décor and statues, including a totem from Timor at the entrance.

De ruimte
The villa has four bedrooms. Two bedrooms have canopied and draped king-sized beds. Another bedroom has a queen-sized bed, while one other bedroom has twin beds. All bedrooms, however, have dedicated bathrooms with rain showers
Perpendicular to the villa is the eight-meter swimming pool. Give in to its beckoning, glassy waters for some mindless wading, or for some playful splashing. For some sun, you can lie on cushioned, rattan pool beds – some partially covered by a large umbrella – on the poolside wooden deck or on the garden’s well-kept lawn. You can also recline on a big cushioned, circular, rattan day bed under the tall palm trees overlooking the rice paddy that is right opposite.

At the breezy, semi-open and spacious covered terrace extending from the villa’s ground level is the living area. Around its hefty and long, cushioned bleach wood couch and chairs, you can all converge for moments of family or friendly bonding. At the center of a spacious and high-ceilinged pavilion connected to the covered terrace is the dining area with its carved one piece suar wood table good for up to ten. Here, you can all have your fill of authentic Balinese specialties – as well as foreign fare – freshly cooked by the onsite chef at the fully-equipped kitchen behind the dinner table. Provided with high stools, the kitchen’s long suar counter can also double as a bar.
Upstairs a quiet reading room with a well-stocked bookshelf and a TV and DVD player are available for your enjoyment. Finally the garden is a delightful, well-kept and colourful tropical paradise with a terraced front garden with fruit trees and the main garden at the back overlooking a rice paddy and featuring a few coconut trees, frangipani trees, hibiscus flower bushes and more.

For the restaurants around the villa, the closest is “Secret Bay” at Gajah Mina resort just behind the villa – if it’s dry you can walk there via the rice paddy shortcut – or take a motorbike or car.
“Secret Bay” looks out to the sea and it’s a great and quiet location close to the cliff that overlooks both Balian beach and Mejan beach. I highly recommend just walking there to admire the view. Be careful though as there are no safety barriers anywhere (especially if you have children). If you are adventurous and if the sea is at low tide (no big waves crashing on the rocks underneath the cliff where fishermen often sit in the evening), you can walk down by taking a small path down on the left side of the cliff behind the bushes (as you look out to the sea when on the cliff). It’s a bit of a climb down so be careful but if you walk around at the bottom you can also reach a point from where to see the batcave that is underneath the cliff (you will smell them from the top!).
There is an easier way to see the bats in another cave (and you will get closer) from Mejan beach and at low tide. Wayan can advise how to get there.
The restaurants on the Balian beach side are plenty: Tom’s Café, Tekor, Pondok Pittaya (with sea view) and Warung deki (great for a sunset drink as well with view on the surfers) are the most famous ones.

Tijdens je verblijf

For food, there are lots of restaurants around the villa, but mostly on the Balian Beach side, so you can go there by foot, motorbike or car if you wish or cook yourself as the kitchen in the villa is fully equipped. If given notice, the villa staff can also cook for you.
If you want to cook yourself, it would be better to buy food on the way from the airport to the villla, in Seminyak or Canggu, at Pepito supermarket, Bali Budha (more organic foods and baked bread etc.) or even Carrefour next to the airport if you need a lot. Most of these places will deliver if needed but will charge a small delivery fee.
These supermarkets have more choice of ingredients, especially meat and fish, pasta sauce, juices or fresh milk/ soy milk, fresh bread which you cannot find in the local supermarket in Surabrata. This one does nevertheless cater basic items and can be found a short walk away on the village main square, where you can also find vegetable, fruit and egg sellers as well as an attractive night market for food in the evening. Be careful though to only eat very well cooked food and stick to vegetarian food items if you are not used to eat at these local markets.
Beer can be bought from the little village supermarket or even in my street (small stall further up the road) - and eggs from the village square. There is a small vegetable stall on the way to the market square (walking distance) where I usually buy fruit and vegetables – they also sell tempeh but don’t come too late as it might be sold out. For wine, you can import one bottle per person & this will be a cheaper option than buying in Indonesia. Or get the locally produced “Two island” wine which is made from imported Australian grapes and is a decent drinking wine. You can buy the wine at Pepito supermarkets and more centrally/closer to the airport but probably not locally.

The chef can cook dinner for you at a fee of Rp 350,000 per meal and please pay them extra for the ingredients. Fresh fish a
