We are located on a private all sports Lake Louise (Lewis Lake on some GPS maps) and within an hour drive to some of the most spectacular Northern Michigan scenery. The cottage lies on a gentle bluff with a beautiful view of the lake and shoreline. Enjoy your coffee in the morning on the wrap-around deck or a relaxing dinner watching the sunset. This ranch style home sleeps six comfortably (7 if two share the full size bed) and 2 more with the pull out sofa.
The first bedroom has a king size bed. The second bedroom has two extra long twin beds. The third sleeping area again has one twin bed and one full size bed and is separated from the living room by a wall.
The living room is open and spacious. There are two dining areas that can accommodate up to twelve...the kitchen table at the rear of the cottage and the front dining area with a view of the lake. The layout of the cottage is great for entertaining and larger families.
The cottage has wi-fi and both a washer and dryer and is fully furnished with everything necessary for a Pure "Northern" Michigan experience along with a row boat, trolling motor, gas grill, camp chairs, lounge chairs and more.
Wonderful fishing includes bass, pike, and pan fish. (The fish are trying to make a comeback as two very harsh winters took their toll within the past few years). Kayaking and canoeing around the three islands make for fantastic adventures. Loons and bald eagles have called Lake Louise their home. Morel hunting each spring is a gourmet's delight and for those who prefer eating out Johannesburg offers two great eateries, The Old Depot and Paul's Pub just 1 mile (URL HIDDEN) no cooking necessary!
One of my favorite places to visit within an hour drive is the amazing "no automobiles allowed" Mackinac Island. Take the ferry for a day..rent a bicycle or rent a horse drawn carriage ride or..pack a lunch and eat fudge! You'll see what I mean....the only place on the planet where the combined smells of horse poo and fudge is normal!
Also, check out Fort Colonial Michilimackinac on the shores of Lake Michigan in Mackinaw City where a one-of-a-kind experience from cannon and musket firings to hearth cooking and crafts greet each visitor as life continues much in the way it did in the 1700s.
Another great day trip is to Sleeping Bear Dunes. "It is peaceful and serene. A place where gazing out into the world, night or day, and realizing that the universe is truly a magical, majestic mystery and humans are just a very small part of it all. Here at Sleeping Bear, I sit in awe and wonder at the perfection of Mother Nature." Jim Madole, Michigan resident who nominated Sleeping Bear Dunes in Good Morning America's "Most Beautiful Place in America" contest in 2011.
Spend a day touring the wine country near Traverse City and the city itself which is know as the cherry capital of the world! The Cherry Festival has been named in USA Today's top 10 festivals for several years running. (July 1- July 8, 2017).
We are within 15 minutes of northern Michigan's Golf Mecca with spectacular golfing and challenging courses for both the advanced and beginner golfer.
These are just a few of the amazing destination places that can be reached within an hour drive or two of Pete's Retreat...but for me...call me lazy..I just like to decompress, grab a trashy novel, plunk my beach chair in the water, read and enjoy!
RENTALS DURING JULY AND AUGUST ARE FOR ONE WEEK PERIODS.

Initially I will try to greet all the guests on their arrival to answer any questions they would have in person but I am always just a phone call away.
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
If you are lucky you will be able to see and hear the two loons we have on the lake this 2017 year. Last year I only saw one. We have also seen an eagle soaring overhead.
There is no smoking in the house and when smoking please dispose of all cigarette butts. Per Michigan law one flotation device per person must be in the boat. There will be some laundry soap, dish soap, and paper products available for normal use. There is an electric coffee pot along with a stove top percolator if you want the "old fashioned" method. There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes, utensils along with a hand held mixer, blender, and crock pot to name a few. There is a propane gas grill for your use on the side deck. There is a wheel barrow full of wood for campfires in the garage (I would guess about 2 nights worth). There is a fundamental first aid kit in kitchen cabinet along with some sun block and bug spray in case you forget. There is a DVD player. Two network channels and two public television channels will work.
A Michigan native born and raised on the west side of the state. I think everyone in Michigan must have a little bit of the great and inland lakes in their blood. Our state is blessed with a tremendous amount of natural resources that we may take for granted at times but there is nothing like living in Michigan. Come see for yourself!
