Simple, self-contained, very quiet, converted small stone barn by the coast path east of Charmouth. Ideal retreat for a week, base for a walking weekend or pause on a longer walk. Double bed, shower room, kitchen/sitting area, down the cliffs to the beach & acres all around to roam.
The studio, a small stone barn (separate from, but alongside, our house) is surrounded by National Trust land and just 100 yards from the cliff and coast path.
It is just one room, with separate en-suite shower room and loo, and measures about 18x15 feet.
There's a comfortable double bed, sofa, table and chairs and galley kitchen with hob, oven and fridge.
You can just about see the sea from the window, but step outside and you're free to walk footpaths in all directions through orchid-rich meadows, copses, along tiny streams and find a way down to the beach (about a half-hour walk to the beach).
Access is on foot from the coast path or a mile or so down a long, rough track, quite overgrown from late spring onwards (unsuitable for cars that don't like to get muddy or be scratched by brambles, hawthorn, honeysuckle and toadflax). There's parking available immediately outside the shed, but this isn't a good place to come and go by car from regularly - better to use it as a base for walking, writing, painting or retreat. (We can also collect you from the bus in Charmouth or train in Axminster).
The barn has wi-fi and a good supply of maps and books. We live across the yard and can help with most other things. If you're arriving on foot we can have food and basics ready for you.
Toegang voor gasten
You're welcome to use the main part of the garden and, if you're staying for a while, to use our washing machine.

We always try to be here to welcome you but, once you're installed, we'll leave you alone. Apart from hearing our car come and go occasionally, you should find the studio very quiet.
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
We live simply, have an organic vegetable garden and try to tread lightly on the planet. We really welcome people with similar values, anyone escaping the city for a while, walkers of course, writers, artists or anyone looking for a space for inspiration or creativity.
We have a friendly dog and are happy to discuss you bringing yours - large beasts that roll endlessly in the mud are problematic. Sheep- and cattle-chasers are out of the question.
Please smoke outdoors.
I like swimming, reading, dogs, gardening and walking
I like Java, Indonesia, The Goldfinch, films in general, theatre and South East Asian food
I am quiet, easy to be with, good sense of humour, I travel light and I am aware of others.
Life motto? Hmmm! Watch this space...
