Sunny, peaceful flat with views to the sea and Edinburgh. In a listed building in the heart of Aberdour village - 5 mins walk to award-winning beach and 2 mins to station - 30 mins centre Edinburgh, 45 mins Edinburgh airport by bus/train, 50 mins St Andrews. Wifi included.
The flat is very peaceful and sunny with a pleasant outlook over mature gardens and out to sea, and the Edinburgh skyline.
It is on the top floor of an old building from the 18th c. and is easily accessed from the main door on the High Street. NB there is a flight of stone stairs leading to the flat so this may not be suitable for people with mobility problems.
The bedroom is small but cozy and has a Velux window, chest of drawers and walk-in wardrobe/cupboard, with ample storage for luggage, clothes etc.
There is a small hallway, leading to an open plan sitting room and kitchen. The kitchen has a washing machine and fridge freezer and an electric hob cooker and oven, microwave oven, as well as a range of self-catering equipment. NB there is no dishwasher.
The sitting room has a writing desk overlooking the gardens, towards the sea. There is a small two seater sofa and a leather club chair, bookcase with various board games and local information, coffee table and a small (24 inches) Samsung Smart HD TV (Amazon Prime and Netflix etc) and a DVD player. I keep my own collection of DVDs in the flat which guests are welcome to borrow.
(I also keep a spare set of golf clubs for guests to use- Aberdour golf club is a high quality 18 hole parkland course and the first tee is five minutes walk from the flat.)
Constant hot water is provided by a traditional boiler in a cupboard off the sitting room, though there is an electric shower (instant). The bathroom has a small bath, with an over bath shower. NB the bathroom is a bit dated (see photos).
There is quite a large garden, most of which is shared, including a drying green (clothes line and pegs). There is also a secluded private garden area at the end of the garden, on the right side, with a table and bench. There is ample space to leave bikes securely either in the garden or in the passage way.
Parking - there is a large, overnight public car park at the station which is about 50 metres from the flat. You can also often find spaces on the street immediately outside the flat.

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
If you intend to cook, note that there is no supermarket in the village, though there are small shops and cafes. The nearest large supermarket (ASDA) is six minutes drive (open till 22:00, 7 days a week), or if you use the train, the simplest is to use the Marks and Spencers inside the stations in Edinburgh (or take the 7 bus to ASDA).
Also be aware that if you go out in the evening in Edinburgh, although trains are every 30 minutes, the last train home is 23:09. After this time you would have to take a taxi or Uber, though there are night buses running till 3:15 AM at the weekends (Friday and Saturday).
• Check-in time is 4PM.
• Check-out time is 11AM.
Please be respectful of any neighbours and also maintain the flat in a clean and tidy condition, as you found it. Please put rubbish in the bins provided in the outhouse/organic waste in the garden. If you are staying more than a week, please follow the Council's bin collection information listed downstairs.
I'm extremely easy going as a guest and can pretty much sleep anywhere. I don't mind messy places, but I do like things to be clean and insect free.

I like to travel alone because it's far better to keep your eyes on your surroundings and meet people as you go. But sometimes I've joined forces with other travelers, or friends.
I intend to be a host and I'm going to offer my flat in Scotland to stay in on a short-term basis. I would like to be as friendly and helpful as possible and also flexible. I will try to ensure there is everything necessary for a comfortable stay, and to meet any reasonable requests. I intend to provide plenty of information about the surrounding area as well as travel and other practical arrangements.
