Comfortable, quiet, fully furnished lake front home that sleeps 6-8 adults. Enclosed porch with grill. We have a fire pit and a Bocce court. Comes with a double and single kayak and two canoes. The property abuts Pawtuckaway State Park and is convenient for hiking, swimming and fishing (and ice fishing). Spectacular fall foliage in-season, less than 90 minutes Boston and 30 minutes from Portsmouth and Manchester, NH.

De ruimte

Enjoy the beauty and serenity of Pawtuckaway Lake in this comfortable and spacious waterfront home. Situated at the end of one of Pawtuckaway's many scenic coves, our Lakehouse abuts the 5,500 acre Pawtuckaway State Park, ensuring privacy and peace and quiet if you wish. The three story house has four main bedrooms, two of which have one Queen-sized bed each, while a third has two full-sized beds and another has one full-sized bed. We supply linens and towels.

There are two full bathrooms with stand-up showers on the first and third floors, as well as a washer and dryer. The first floor also includes a spare refrigerator in addition to the unit in the kitchen.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first and third floors, while the second floor is the open-spaced living area that features a full kitchen complete with refrigerator/freezer, oven and stove. We supply all the plate-ware, glassware and flatware you would need, including pots and pans for your use. The dining area is attached to the kitchen with the option of a large dinner table that seats eight. The kitchen also has a small table that could seat four, and a bar-top island table with 4 stools. Just off the kitchen and dining room is the living room with a couch, a love seat and two reclining chairs. This was our summer home for many years and while you may find some well-used items (like our love seat and some chairs), it is cozy and comfortable.

Off the living room, through a sliding glass door is a large, screened in porch that also has an entrance from the front outside stairs. The porch has a table and many chairs to play cards or one of the many games that we supply (Scrabble, Risk, Apples to Apples, Pictionary Settlers of Catan, Balderdash, cards, chess, checkers, backgammon, cribbage, etc), or just to rest a drink and enjoy the view of the lake. There is also a gas grill on the porch for your use.

We have cable TV with a respectable array of cable channels as well as wi-fi. Cell phone reception at the lake isn't great, but you can use the house phone for getting in touch with late-arriving guests.

Located just fifty-five miles from Boston, twenty-two miles from Portsmouth, forty-five miles from the White Mountains and twenty-four miles from Manchester, N.H. and its airport, Pawtuckaway State Park is a popular southern New Hampshire destination for swimming, fishing (and ice-fishing), boating, water and jet-skiing, hunting, camping, hiking, mountain biking and enjoying amazing Fall foliage. While not nearly the size of more popular New Hampshire lakes Winnipausaukee and Sunapee, Pawtuckaway is a great, convenient option situated half-way between Portsmouth and Manchester off Route 101.

We offer a canoe and two kayaks (one a single, the other a double) with paddles and life preservers for your use. The lakefront area is tucked at the end of the cove and we have a small dock. There is a small swath of shaded beach that you can launch the canoes, kayaks or yourselves from. The beach is shaded and small, so while not conducive to sun bathing, Pawtuckaway State Park beach is a short canoe ride from the house.

If you own a boat, depending on it's size, arrangements can be made for you to dock it. Anything larger than a small lake fishing boat or outboard sport boat would not fit. As stated previously, Pawtuckaway is large enough to accommodate water-skiing and small speed boats, if you're looking to dock anything larger than that, Pawtuckaway- with a maximum 3.5 miles in length, 1.1 miles in width and 783 acres of surface area- probably isn't the lake for your boat.

As you pull down the hill of our driveway, you will notice our brand new (as of August 2014) fire pit to the left of the driveway. At the entrance of the house you will find our (non regulation) Bocce court that spans the length of the house. Well-lit by our flood lights and cheesy party lights, the Bocce court has seen hours of games played on it, often well into the night. If you're not familiar with the great game of Bocce, feel free to look it up online. It is truly one of the great leisure games and if we sound biased it's because we come from Italian heritage and we grew up playing.

Pets- as you can tell from the pictures of the house, we are dog-friendly, but we'd like to hear more about your dog(s) before we agree to their invitation. Are they spayed/neutered? What kind of breed, etc? Several members of our family are allergic to cats, so unfortunately no kitties allowed.

Fishing- Pawtuckaway is rated 4.2 out of 5 for Smallmouth Bass and 4 out of 5 for Largemouth Bass when in season.

Hiking- whether you enter through Pawtuckaway State Park itself, or walk off the property to find the trails (which are nearby), Mount Pawtuckaway is over 920' at its summit, has a fire observation tower which affords an amazing view, especially at peak foliage season.

There is plenty of additional information you can research online relevant to your specific activities.

Lakehouse History- the land the house is on was originally owned by a family member who owned the house next door and the land the Lakehouse currently sits on. Owning several business ventures, including the trading post on Mountain Road, as well as a real estate business, the Lakehouse was built originally just as an enclosed frame and was used to store off-season recreational equipment like canoes and snow mobiles. There were no windows, plumbing, electricity, etc. Purchased in the early 1980's, our family proceeded to build out and personalize the house, a little at a time, summer after summer until it became what you see in the pictures. We still have many family members (cousins who grew up next door to the Lakehouse) who are raising their families in the Nottingham/Raymond area and make their homes nearby. We have many treasured memories at this special place, from birthday parties to reunions and vacations. The youngest son of the family even proposed to his wife during a hike following the stream just off the property, so know that you are staying in a very beautiful and, to us, romantic place.

We aren't able to get as much use out of this home as we once did, but no one else has ever owned this place and it is a treasure to our family and a nice get-away from the real world. We expect you to treat, and enjoy, the Lakehouse like you would your own home. We know families looking to use the Lakehouse as a get-away would cherish it as much as we always have. References above and beyond the airbnb reviews may be requested.

The Lakehouse is ideal if you're a small family or friends with families who would like to get away together and rent our home away from home. That said, we're happy to consider all requests.

When you make a reservation with us, we send out a comprehensive Welcome Letter via email a few days before your arrival which has more house and community-specific information.

If you are looking for spotless, antiseptic and perfectly turned-down appeal of a hotel, you may want to try a Holiday Inn or something similar. Our home is very clean but it is also lived-in with personal pictures and family artifacts that have meaning to us.

Toegang voor gasten

The entire house is yours to use. We provide two four person canoes, one double and one single kayak with paddles and life vests/preservers.
Please be cognizant that our neighbor's house is in close proximity and, facing the lake, the two docks on the right is their property, not ours.

* Renters need to be 25 years of age or older, no exceptions.
* Please be courteous to our neighbors in our very quiet little corner of the lake and turn the music down and keep the noise down after dark. They are used to our loud Italian family, but we'd like to continue to have their support for renting our house, so please be respectful, especially late at night and on weeknights.
* Keep in mind you can close the windows and turn on the A/C in the summer time and that will help keep the noise to a respectable level.
* Please do not use the wood-burning stove without talking to us first. We just want to ensure that you're comfortable using one.
* Please no smoking in the house. If you smoke on the porch, please be clean about your ashes and butts.
* We are OK with a dog or maybe two, but please give us information about them: breed, are they spayed or neutered and where they reside on a regular basis before we make a decision.
A few members of our family are very allergic to cats, so unfortunately, no kitties please.

Location - it was not too far from local towns and we had expected getting anywhere would be a drive from this location. The host mentioned it has a lived in feel - it's a bit out dated for our taste. It did accommodate our whole group but we had a baby and toddler and when we picked rooms my husband and I had to take a basement room as we didn't want the kids down there. There was a musty type spell. Towels and linens are very dated as well. The scenic aspect overlooking the lake was very pleasant and we enjoyed having our coffee on the closed in screen porch. My grown kids enjoyed taking out the canoes so that was a plus for them. We did use the bbq on the porch and it did get smoky as he told us it would so we used the fan as he provided and that helped. Matt had good communication and checked on us by phone. The place was workable and we got use to it as we were there for a week but don't expect modern. It definitely could use an overhaul. I would give it a 3 plus star rating.

This was our second visit to the Datillo family lake-house. My family and I (six adults, one seven-year-old) had such fun last year that everyone wanted to return; I think there's a tradition developing! As always, the house was in good order, with all the comforts of home--plus, of course, the lake and swimming/boating gear, which our tiny apartment in Cambridge, MA cannot provide! The house and its location are truly peaceful and magical. Many thanks to Matt and his family for opening it to visitors. Michael Austin

We had a lovely, fun long weekend family get together. Entertainment amenities for everyone - games, kayaks and canoes, hiking, fire pit, bocci pit (which doubled as a cornhole tournament arena for us), and wifi and TV for those who can't unplug.

Our family vacation at Matt's place was everything we hoped for. The house was cozy and full of anything you needed from a rental. We had a lot of fun at the bocce court and the fire pit. Matt was so easy to communicate with and he checked in to be sure we were all set. He was a wonderful host!

Boston-raised guy who travels for work quite a bit. My wife and I enjoy exploring new cities where we tend to gravitate towards museums, outdoor spectacles and the local small rock clubs and cozy, neighborhood restaurants and bars. Favorite cities (that aren't Boston) include: Austin, Seattle and Savannah.

I'm very respectful of the fact that I am potentially staying in someone's home and will, as my Mother raised me to do, "leave it in better shape than I found it." I'm a low-maintenance non-complainer who is pretty used to sleeping just about anywhere, so if what you have is comfortable to you, it's likely very comfortable for me.

I am also a host for a family property that I have been managing since September of 2012 so I understand the challenges that come along with being a host.
