Charming little apartment set just behind the historic town house belonging to the host. Steve made us both feel very welcome, was very accommodating, provided great advice on local places to visit, and was flexible about my quite late arrival timing. The Wash House itself was just what we needed, small and compact, but very cosy and a perfect location for visiting the peak district, and long walks in the hills. Highly recommended!

Beautiful home that’s the perfect place for a weekend get away to the Peak District. Wirksworth is a beautiful town with some fantastic restaurant near by. We had a great time in this quirky home, would love to come back again!

The Wash House is a beautiful weekend bolt-hole, your very own little escape from the real world... Steve's welcome is exceptionally warm and welcoming and the Wash House itself is located in a beautifully quirky garden. There is a lovely short walk (instructions form Steve) right on the doorstep and Wirksworth is a small but beautifully formed little town with two or three lovely pubs and restaurants. The House itself sits immediately beside Steve and Sue's back door, but there is never a sense of your space being invaded. The Wash House is lovely and brings a smile to your face... The only concern would be the fact that the bedroom is hard to access and may mean a touch of agility on the part of its residents! That said, the Wash House is great - a relaxing and beautifully designed escape right in the middle of a great little town. Highly recommended!

Very nice location in the picturesque village of Wirksworth. Nice places to eat and drink on the doorstep and Would recommend Le Mistral and try the steak (as recommended by Steve!) The accommodation is great with nice touches everywhere - enjoy it!

We had a brilliant weekend at the wash house. It's a fantastic location right in the centre of Wirksworth, just a minute's walk from some great restaurants. We loved Le Mistral and Gino's (where the food was great even if the service was a little unusual!) and Mercia does a great brunch. We were lucky to have come to Wirksworth during the arts festival and caught some incredible late night jazz in the town hall. For a cute little town Wirksworth has a lot going on! The local scenery is stunning and we enjoyed a circular walk from Wirksworth to Black Rocks. Steve was a perfect host, extremely welcoming and full of advice about where to go and what to do. We felt completely at home. The wash house is full of character, a beautiful place for a cosy, romantic weekend - not a lot of space but very cute! The chocolates and amaretti biscuits were a lovely addition. I believe we were the first to use the new summer house which was a delightful place to spend a quiet afternoon reading. Wirksworth is charming and I would thoroughly recommend Steve and Sue's Wash House as a place to stay.

You won't get a better location that this quirky place to explore Wirksworth. Steve is very welcoming and informative. The ladder is steep and the bed is accessed by crawling so if you're tall/extra large/have mobility issues then this won't be the place for you.

The Wash house is cosy but at the same time is a little piece of luxury. There is a good range of local amenities literally on the doorstep. It is easy to explore the local area from here or just relax. A beautiful garden, cafetière, amaretto biscuits, chocolates and a record player - perfect treats and superb touches that add something special to the stay. We were warmly welcomed and were given some top tips to make the most of our stay.
