Perched literally on the border between England and Wales, David and Christine's beautiful guesthouse is a great place for a quiet weekend getaway, with fantastic scenery in every direction. Redbrook is tiny, but contains everything you need - two good pubs (one on the English side of the river and one on the Welsh bank) and a great village store. Walkers are spoilt for choice with enticing options all around. David and Christine themselves were great hosts, friendly and very helpful.

We had a very warm welcome from David and Christine, and of course, Tash! The room was charming and comfortable, and absolutely everything had been thought of, from towels and bath stuff through to breakfast for our 2-day stay. According to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, the England/Wales border runs right through this property, which adds a bit of mystique, and the location was idyllic, with a beautiful footpath along the River Wye, with its cormorants and kingfishers just a couple of hundred yards away to one side of the house, the Offa's Dyke trail behind and Tintern Abbey about 6 miles to the South. The Forest of Dean isn't as intimidating as its reputation would have you believe, but it feels quite unexplored in places. Ideal if you like being away from crowds and you're interested in history.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It was even stocked with food (fresh fruit, milk, bread, yogurt, juice, tea and coffee! David was a generous and helpful host, even helping lug our belongings up the stairs, and we definitely recommend staying here. We did not have mobile phone reception, but the wifi worked well. David knows the area and hikers' needs well and is an excellent resource. Be sure to visit The Ostrich pub (a drive up the hill, next to the church) for great atmosphere and food.

We stayed 5 days over the long Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The location is perfect since it's a short drive to Monmouth and Forest of Dean. Great for outdoorsy people since there are walks EVERYWHERE. Can't fault our room and we appreciated the cereals, juice, milk and yogurts stocked in the room on arrival. David was a great host with advice and where to go (Ostrich Inn had amazing food and drinks-nice walk there 'forgotten valley). Highly recommended and can't wait to stay there again :)
