Are you planning on visiting the Grand Canyon or the Arizona Snowbowl? Or maybe you are just looking to get out of the busy city and spend time immersed in nature. If so, a couple nights at the Flagstaff Grand Canyon Mtn. Chalet is just what you are looking for.
We are located 7 miles (10 minutes) from historic downtown Flagstaff, 1.25 hours from the Grand Canyon, 15 minutes from Arizona Snowbowl, 8 minutes from Wing Mtn Snowplay Area, and 12 minutes from the Arizona Nordic Village (formerly the Nordic Center).
You will be staying in a newly renovated, walkout basement of the house that gives you privacy and easy access to come and go as you please. There are two bedrooms, your own kitchenette, dining area, and bathroom. There is a charcoal BBQ grill but you will need to provide your own charcoal and lighter fluid. One room has a king bed and the other has two singles. Enjoy sunsets from your own outdoor sitting area with bistro table and chairs in order to get the peace and quiet you need to relax. We are kid friendly and have games, puzzles, toys, books, and movies to help keep the family entertained.
The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, comfortable, and rustic with gorgeous views of the peaks, the occasional herd of elk, deer, or a fly by from a red tailed hawk. The Flagstaff Grand Canyon Mtn. Chalet has breathtaking views all around and is only a 5-minute walk to thousands of acres of National Forest land that encompasses the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the United States. Here you can enjoy hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, sledding, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing depending on the season.
Not sure where to go or what to see on your trip? No problem! We have an online guidebook, two entertainment binders full of local and statewide activities, menus, and lots of local knowledge to help you find fun and exciting adventures or places to eat while in town.
We run a certified nonprofit onsite called The Flagstaff EcoRanch, which is dedicated to education and sustainable living. We experiment with water and energy conservation techniques, sustainable gardening, raising chickens and bees, and supporting our local community through food donations. The proceeds from your stay go towards experiential, hands on, educational projects. Often times we have college and high school classes volunteering or college interns working on projects. Help us raise money by staying with us or buying farm fresh eggs from our hens ($5/dozen) all while learning about sustainable living! We even have a self-guided tour you can use to learn about our nonprofit.
If you are looking for a weekend getaway, learning about sustainable living techniques, or need a rest stop while traveling through northern Arizona, the Flagstaff Grand Canyon Mtn. Chalet is the place for you!
FYI - If you are staying with us between October and March, either 4WD or chains are required if there has been any snow because our driveway is on a hill and can get icy/slippery. Guests may need to park in the lower parking area and use the stairs up to the rental if this is the case. There are about 20 stairs. That being said, the weather can be unpredictable in the winter so you may not have any snow at all. We just want to warn you ahead of time because we have spent numerous hours towing and digging out cars for people unfamiliar with driving in snowy conditions. You can check with us about conditions before your arrival. There are lots of places to buy inexpensive chains in town, like gas stations and hardware stores, on your way out to our house if necessary.

As much as the guests would like. Often times we are in and out with our schedules so sometimes it makes it difficult. We respect the privacy of our guests but are available when they have questions or want to talk.
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
Please drive slow through the neighborhood to help keep dust from the dirt roads at a minimum. If you are staying with us between October and March, either 4WD or chains are required because part of our driveway gets very icy and slippery. You can check with us about conditions before your arrival. We are pet friendly but please let us know about them before your arrival. We charge an additional $10 cleaning fee per animal. If you plan to visit the Grand Canyon, dogs are allowed in the park but not on hiking trails below the rim. Please inquire about boarding options in Flagstaff or at the Grand Canyon if you need them.
The main expectation is that you have a relaxing and enjoyable time immersed in the beautiful surroundings. Aside from that, we ask that you be respectful of quiet hours from 10 pm to 6 am because of our full time jobs. Please keep your cars parked in designated areas so we have the ability to leave when needed. Smoking is okay outside but not indoors. Please be respectful to our neighbors as well, this means driving slowly (we have dirt roads and try to keep down dust) and respecting the quiet and tranquility of our neighborhood. We recycle and compost and urge you to participate, let us know if you have questions, we'd be happy to explain. We have a sustainability handbook that offers many ideas on how to reduce your footprint. On the day of your departure, please leave your used towels on the bathroom floor and remove your sheets from the beds and don't forget to write a little something about your stay in our EcoRanch journal. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
