Great location and fantastic house with lots of space!

The house was the perfect base for us over the weekend. Plenty of room for the kids to spread out, play outside, and enjoy the beach! Thanks very much for being such a good host!

First off, do yourself a favor and book this property today!!! We had the most amazing time staying at Greg & Family's cottage. Greg was an incredible host and an all-around great guy. We really appreciated the amount of communication and time he put into making sure we had everything we needed. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to spend our New Year's holiday away from the city. In short, the cottage was very quaint and held the 6 of my family members comfortably. It was very well decorated and extremely welcoming. While we planned on heading out and exploring the area (more than we did), we often found ourselves staying in, cooking together, playing board games and enjoying the warmth of the fireplace. The beds throughout the cottage were extremely comfortable and overall I don't think I heard a single complaint about the entire property or experience. The property is located close to the beach and just a stone's throw away from the best that Benton Harbor & St. Joseph have to offer. The cottage was extremely clean and well taken care of. There's a feeling of character that only a home that's loved can have and this cottage definitely has that. It truly is charming! All in all, my family agrees that Greg is awesome! Upon our arrival, we were greeted with muffins, a basket of fruit, orange juice and milk. Not to mention a good conversation with Greg himself! (he goes well above and beyond to make sure you have an amazing stay and that everything you need is taken care of) Our stay at the cottage was everything that we were hoping for, the location was perfect with all the bells and whistles! We are definitely planning on coming back (when it's not the dead of winter) so we can enjoy this beautiful property and all it has to offer throughout the seasons!

We love staying here!!! It was a beautiful house with lots of space. The loft upstairs was so cozy. The beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was set up with everything we needed to stay in and cook meals. The neighborhood is super quiet and a little secluded but not far away from the city of St Joseph. There was a nice park close by and a trail for running. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. There was plenty of space for our family of 6. The neighborhood is lovely, and the short walk to the beach was wonderful.

This beautiful cottage was a perfect place for my family and me to relax and unwind. Everyone had their own cozy room and comfy bed. The cottage had everything we needed to relax and enjoy ourselves, and the private beach was beautiful. We didn't want to go home again!

Great cabin, location and host.

The cabin was perfect and Kristi certainly made us feel very welcome. She was very responsive and accommodating. The cabin was stocked with everything you could possibly need. The neighborhood was beautiful and eclectic and everyone we passed said hello and waved. We drove just under two hours from Chicago for a two-day getaway. There was a view from the front windows of the lake, although it will be disappointing once they build a house across the street. Still, it was a quick walk to the beach and since it was February in the Mitten, it was very cozy to relax by the fireplace. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you, Kristi!

Perfect location! Not far from some great places to eat, and you have Lake Michigan as a swimming pool!!

Kristi was very helpful during the whole process of renting and supplied the house with everything we needed. The landscaping and outdoor seating areas are stunning. Our only surprise was that the house is on a loop road of beautiful houses, not in the middle of the woods! The stairs to the loft bedroom are steep as she warned us so be warned if you have issues, but there is a rail bar and lighting.

This is a lovely home away from home. Everything we could need was provided. The neighborhood is peaceful and great for a relaxing week or weekend.

Kristi was easy to communicate with and was personally interested in our satisfaction. She answered any question we had and provided more than we could ask for. Anything we could think of was available at the cabin (which means we packed way too much!) The cabin looks rustic on the outside but is very modern on the inside. Comfortable furniture, plenty of technology and the kitchen has more than I could ever need. The grounds are beautifully kept. One word of caution: if you use the clothes drying rack, take your stuff off before the automatic sprinklers turn on! The beach is a 5 minute walk away through a friendly neighborhood and down 58 stairs (I counted.) The sand, waves and sunset were beautiful!

This place was fantastic. Very clean, modern, spacious, and well equipped for a relaxing stay. It backs up to the golf course, and Jack can get you a discounted greens fee if you stay with him, so don't forget your clubs. The place fit 5 guys very comfortably. There were 4 bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed and each with its own bathroom. We spent most of our time grilling out and sitting on the patio, watching the golfers and relaxing. Aside from the golfers, the house was pretty secluded, as nobody was living in the neighboring houses. Jack lives 5 minutes away, so check in was a breeze. He was very nice and very helpful. Overall, this place was exactly what we were looking for. We could not have had a better experience. We can't wait to come back and stay here again.

What a great house. Six of us were racing in the Steelhead Half Iron man. The accommodations were perfect. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. There was plenty of room for us all to have dinner together and hang out in the living area together. There was also an awesome back deck that we spent a lot of time on. The golf course and clubhouse were beautiful and our dinner was great. Five stars all the way. We will absolutely be back!

Beautiful home! Very clean and it's perfect for 8 people or more!

This home is perfect for a large group! Four private bedrooms/baths and a large, comfortable common area and kitchen. Jack is great and always quick to answer questions. Close to Warren Dunes and lots of other activities. Our group had a great stay and hopes to return.

Kaye was lovely to work with. Very responsive. The house is a true farmhouse. After a last minute decision of inviting our friends we had 5 kids and 3 adults and it fit us perfect.

The house itself is charming. However, we were disappointed in the cleanliness of the house prior to arrival. Seemed as if nothing had been touched in a while. We could not use the majority of the kitchen ware and in general the kitchen was not inviting. The house is very secluded and although it has nice walking trails in the back, the front view is an abandoned building. Also, there's a strong odor to the water and be cautious when doing laundry, for it may leave marks on clothing. On a positive note, St Joseph and Benton Harbor are very close by.

Vi var i en binda där vi var tvungna att stanna i MI för en osäker tid. Vi visste inte när vi skulle checka in eller ut och Kaye var mer än tillmötesgående för oss när jag berättade för henne vår situation. Vi hade en nyfödd med oss och jag var orolig värmeböljan som var prognosen; Kaye gick ut och köpte fönster luftkonditioneringsapparater för oss. Det är vad jag menar med ägs av en verklig person. När det gäller utrymme, det var perfekt. När jag kom hem, jag köpte samma säng som är i första våningen sovrum! Huset ligger strax norr om St. Joseph hotspots. Att inom en 5-10 minuters bilresa från allt var trevligt eftersom vi kunde göra saker och inte betala semester stad priser för boende. Silver Beach är definitivt en sak att göra med barnen. Och Silver Beach Pizza är ett måste! Så om du letar efter ett ställe att semester i området, skulle jag definitivt rekommendera vistas här. Den har allt - en underbar plats, ett bekvämt avstånd från allt, överkomligt pris, och den bästa programledare som du kan begära.

The home was large, spacious and clean. Great for large groups. Inez was very accommodating. Our family was in BH for a wedding and I doubt we'll be there again, however we would stay there if we were.

Great secluded home close to lots of fun Michigan lakeside towns. Robin and John gave us great suggestions for things to do and John had a wood built up perfectly in the fire pit so we had a fire going in seconds for S'mores one night. Beds and furniture were comfortable and the pool table and ping pong in the garage were great. There are train tracks at the end of the driveway and trains came through often---if you have kids that love trains, they can stand at the front door and watch!

We enjoyed this place for our first stay at Lake Michigan. Enough space for our family of four. Well stocked kitchen. It was a small scenic drive to the beaches, but there's not too many places to stay that you don't have a drive to the beach. It was nice to have more space and the game room was great once the kids were asleep. Robin was helpful and attentive welcoming us and if we had questions.

Great location in quiet area and comfortable home with nice amenities! Hosts were very responsive and kind. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Stonegate Manor is indeed as lovely as it looks in pictures. It was also surprisingly practical and comfortable. Our only real worry initially was that we could not easily make meals without messing up the beautiful wood tables, but the owners have anticipated this concern and provide adequate protection (towels for the main wood table in the kitchen, placemats, etc.) so that you can chop and serve food without concern. Our two daughters, 11 and 14, loved their bedrooms that are both elegant and comfortable. The beautiful couches in the living area are very comfortable for reading or listening to music. We also enjoyed sitting outside on the back porch at cocktail time. While the house does not have TV, it has wi-fi and that was enough to keep them busy during down time. The grounds are beautiful and the area is lovely, especially if like us, you would like a good long stretch of country road for a daily run. We were indeed 10 minutes from Silver Beach in St. Joe's and had access to some good lunch time restaurants, particularly, brewpubs and that had some great beer (North Pier in Benton Harbor and Silver Harbor in St. Joe's). The only thing is that there are no grocery stores closer than 20 minutes (that we could find), so it is best to stock up fully when you shop.

Stonegate Manor was a great get-a-way in a beautiful setting. We had such a great time out on the patio enjoying the evenin and playing cards with the other couple we traveled with. Prudy was prompt in meeting us upon arrival. House was spacious and beautifully decorated with lovely antiques. Such history from an 1847 homestead. House was spacious and sleeps 7 comfortably. Wish I could have figured out how to rewind the player piano. Weather was beautiful and location perfect to St. Joseph, Saugatuck, Buchanan and Holland. Stonegate Manor was a great "homebase" for us to see beautiful SW Michigan.

We had an excellent stay in Benton Harbor at Purdys home. This is truly unique, beautiful, and spacious rental. It's a short drive from the hubbub of the cities but well worth it for privacy and a romantic retreat. Highly recommend it if you want to unplug! A clean home well appointed with linens and beautifully decorated with antiques. We were lucky enough to enjoy the front room while snow was falling, truly beautiful! I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area needing accommodations!

I had a group of 14 people at the barn for a brewery/distillery tour and it was an awesome place. Many bedrooms, bathrooms for all. Spacious and if you can handle the walk down the 220 steps, the beach is absolutely amazing. I would recommend to anyone.

The Darn Barn provided a good setting for our group of 10 to have a fun weekend at Lake Michigan. In terms of its pros, it is a very spacious house that has plenty of space for large groups, and Frederick and Jake are very attentive hosts who are both happy to answer any questions before and during the trip. In terms of its cons, while the house does technically provide beach access through a neighboring house's property, the 220 steps of stairs leading down to the beach are very rickety, and during high tides, the beach is only a few feet long (much better public beaches are a 10-minute drive away). Also, the house is very dated and in need of significant renovations. Overall, this property provides a convenient location for large groups to enjoy the St Joseph/Benton Harbor area.

This house was perfect for large groups. With 7 bedrooms and multiple beds in certain rooms, plus all of the couches, this fit all of us very well. We had some issues with one of the refrigerators, although Mike and Jake were very receptive when we informed them of the issue, and thankfully there was a second fridge we used. The stairs to the beach were killer, 220 steps and not so stable, so be prepared for that (my legs were SO sore after). The beach was nice that it was private, so we had the area to ourselves, however the high tide on the second day made the actual beach area quite small. So it might be smart to plan on going to one of the nearby public beaches. I agree with some of the past reviewers on the need for updating and the cleanliness, but overall we were a young group looking for a big place to accommodate all of us and not spend a fortune so it worked well for us!

For our purposes, it was perfect (beach house for a bunch of teens). Caretaker really cared. Outside wasn't clean (we had to clean up trash), and no place to recycle. Overall, it's what we expected :)

Location and size were great. Facility was very worn and needed to be upgraded. Yes there are lots of steps both within the house - 3 levels - and to the beach.

The Darn Barn is great for a large group! We had 15 people come and there was sleeping space for all. This house has lots of stairs so that would be challenging for some. It is in a great location close to St. Joseph's and the host was awesome. There was some construction materials laying around, so that could have been a little cleaner. IIt was comfortable and our family really enjoyed our stay.

Pluses: lots of living spaces to spread out inside and out; games and videos; rec room, never ran out of hot water, even with 13 of us, fire pit with plenty of wood, plenty of paper products, clean hard floors, bathrooms and kitchen, sheets and towels. The property Mgr Jake could not have been more friendly, helpful, accommodating and easy to communicate with! Minuses: this place has multiple upkeep issues which I have notified Fred about to pass on to owner. If some money is invested I would recommend this place. Otherwise, I personally would not come back.

Fred & Jake (the property manager) are great to work with and very responsive. Could not be more pleased with them. The house is within a short walk of the beach and within 5min drive from nice park beaches. Wifi is good. The main plus here is the size of the house - and its character. The house has a lot of little oddities in its layout and construction which our kids really enjoyed exploring. The main negative is that it is run down. There is a musty odor on the 1st and 2nd floors. The third floor has been updated more recently and smells better. One of the 2nd floor bedrooms needs wall repairs and seems to possibly be moldy. Also - there are a lot of steps to get down to the beach - too many for our party with 5 children to be able to practically make that work, but the 5min drive to a nice park beach was perfect. I would not go back to this location with my family unless there was reno work done. I would go back with a youth-trip kind of group.

We had a lovely stay at Bianca's house, the place is very unique and the hosts were very welcoming and hospitable. Very child friendly which is nice, especially since you are staying in a room at their house. Lots of space both inside and outside to feel like you had enough private space, but was still able to socialize with the hosts- a lovely, very interesting and fun couple!

This stay was perfect for our trip to St. Joseph, MI. It's about a 15 minute drive from downtown, which worked out great for us. The common space was good for a group of five adults, and the beds were comfortable. Tammy was a very flexible and attentive hostess, and provided us good information on the area. There's no TV, but we brought our laptops and watched moves via the WiFi. The kitchen is stocked with dishes and a coffee maker. Everything was as advertised, and we enjoyed our stay.

The place was as described. Clean upon arrival, and excellent communication from the host. Had a great time!

Nuestra familia de 3 lo pasamos de maravilla. Muy tranquilo y familiar barrio. Nos permitió una oportunidad para relajarse de la ajetreada y agitada zona de Chicagoland. Mi hija y yo hicimos un poco de ciclismo por el barrio. Hay algunos pequeños senderos detrás de la casa que caminamos. Hay un bonito pequeño lugar de pesca por el amarillo señal 2 minutos a pie. Tammy you have a great place on the St Joe river. You have it equipped with everything needed. We cooked in and even BBQed. My teenagers fished the river everday. We drove to a different beach location everyday. We had a great time and enjoyed staying in your Airbnb.

We had a great time at Tammy's property! We were a little worried at first when we realized there wasn't a TV in the main area, but it turned out to be a good thing as we could spend more time together as a family without the little ones asking to watch shows. The AC units and the large trees kept the house cool and comfortable, and the upstairs view of the river was excellent. We did have to point a fan towards the smoke detector in the kitchen when using the oven, as it kept going off, and we didn't even burn anything! :) Overall, we were very happy.

Not a love match for us. The river is much farther away from the house than we expected.

My girlfriend and I were in town for a wedding and needed an affordable place to stay, especially mid-summer when hotels are hard to find and expensive. Julie was a great host, was helpful, and provided exactly what we needed. Overall, we had a nice stay in St. Joseph.

The barn was amazing, beat all of our expectations by a lot! Wonderful setting backing up to vineyards, very cute and nicely decorated inside. Ann and her husband Tim were perfect hosts, even provided delicious freshly baked breads upon arrival. We'd certainly stay again and would highly recommend anyone else who might be considering it as well.

This was our first experience with Airbnb and a wonderful one at that. The property was beautiful and the hosts Ann and Tim were very accommodating and such a pleasure to chat with. Ann provided many extras such as cinnamon rolls from a favorite bakery that her and her husband frequent, fresh blackberries from the property, and fresh eggs. The house has everything you can imagine and incredibly eclectic and artsy. I knew immediately one or both them had to be a creative soul. When grilling shish kebobs on the grill, Ann and Tim were accommodating with providing charcoal and a large foil pan for us to use. The property was lovely with a lavender garden, fruit trees, vineyard, fire pit area, and many cute quaint seating areas around the property. Our dogs loved having their walks around the lighted pathway around the vineyard in the back yard everyday. We would not hesitate to visit the property again! It was a wonderful experience.

We loved our stay with Ann and Tim-- erudite, well-traveled, multilingual retirees. The red barn is quaint, rustic, and scenic-- like something out of a Van Gogh painting. Ann shared multiple of her home-baked goods, vine-ripened blackberries, homemade blackberry jam, farm eggs with us, and even sent us home with lavender from her garden which I had been secretly coveting all week. Tim was there in a heartbeat to give us a welcome tour, help us set up the bed. They were both genuinely enthusiastic toward our children and asked us to bring our dogs next visit. To top it off, we forgot our toiletry bag and Ann called and met us at Luisa's Cafe to give it to us. This couple goes above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable and welcome.

Ann was wonderfully friendly & accommodating. We arrived a bit earlier than intended, but she enabled us to check in anyway. We found a fridge pre-stocked with a few lovely treats from the local farmer's market, which lasted us for several days. We've got 2 young kids who were both comfortable staying. Ann had outlet covers & gates at the top & bottom of the stairs. The open loft sleeping area on the 2nd floor made for slightly difficult going-to-bed & waking-up quietly without the rest of the house situations, but we expected it & the kids adapted well. Note: the house has a walk-in shower (no tub) in the bathroom, but even my 2-y.o. loved getting sprayed down with the handheld shower sprayer. The property is beautiful & we enjoyed walking amongst the grape vines, fruit trees & flowers. It's a relatively quiet neighborhood even off a busier street, but the barn is set back so we weren't disturbed. The property is located within 15min drive of St. Joseph's & several other locations, & 1hr from Holland & a ton more, so we enjoyed exploring all around. Little is walkable, so a car's required. Really enjoyed our time & will stay again when we're next in town.

Staying at the Red Barn Lodge was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Ann and Tim are both very genuine and kind hearted people and went out of their way to make sure me and my family had everything we needed to have a great stay. Even though we were only the third guests to the Red Barn Lodge you would never know it. Ann is a baker and even left (amazing) homemade biscotti, homemade jams, fresh bagels, and fresh eggs in the fridge for us to enjoy. We enjoyed our breakfasts at the table in the private back yard on the last day of our visit. It was relaxing in the midst of the grape arbors also there. We always enjoy eating at new places and I love coffee shops, and Ann and Tim offered several suggestions of amazing places to eat (ie The Mason Jar... yum!) and great coffee shops (Infusco in Sawyer, and Cliffs Coffee Canal....beautiful!). The location is only a short 10 minute drive to Saint Joseph and maybe 20 minutes away from the dunes at Sawyer. The building and decorations were unlike anything we've ever stayed in before. It is decorated very tastefully and artistically with many sofas, chairs, tables, books, art, antiques, and mementos of their journeys and lives throughout the lodge. I don't know that this accommodation would be the best selection for a family with very young children but I don't think it is intended to be. The beds were actually better than we expected. One of the pullout sofas is brand new (on the lower level) and the other pullout and single bed were also comfortable. All beds were clean with freshly washed sheets and pillows, and extra blankets were available. Communication with Ann and Tim was excellent, with her even texting me several times while we were out offering suggestions of more places to visit as she thought of them. Overall our stay was well worth the cost and so much better than staying at a hotel. The added bonuses of finding new places to go and things to do from Ann and Tim's suggestions were so fun exciting. We are already thinking of doing a longer stay next year and hopefully will be back to visit Ann and Tim and the Red Barn Lodge again.

Fun, eclectic, sweet little place perfect for a Saint Joe area getaway. It's close to several beaches, breweries, etc. Great hosts that made me smile each time we talked and kept us supplied with fresh baked goodies! My family will return!

I hope I can choose the right words to tell you about our stay at Ann and Tim's Red barn Lodge in Stevensville just south of St. Joseph, Mi. If you want a place to peacefully start your day OR to end your day on a positive note OR if you want a quiet space to spend your day. This is the place! When I booked this location I wanted something very special and I couldn't have been more pleased that this happened to be available. My daughter and I stayed for the weekend and absolutely loved this beautiful space. Even though we wanted to explore the area we found ourselves spending quality time together in this beautiful renovated barn. Ann and Tim could not have been more gracious. Ann is a wonderful baker and shares with her guests. We will definitely come back over and over again and recommend this to our family and friends. This was a very memorable trip for us. I cannot thank Ann and Tim enough for this wonderful space and their generous hospitality. They go above and beyond. I have stayed at other homes through similar websites and this was by far the best. Ann and Tim go above and beyond...Grateful guests, Patricia and Pamela
