Malpas is in the civil Parish of St Clement and is a popular centre for boating with navigable waterways to Truro, Falmouth and the Roseland peninsula via the seasonal Enterprise boats which dock at the jetty at the bottom of the hill. Malpas lies within the Cornwall area of outstanding natural beauty which has the same protection as a National Park. There is a myth that Iseult, from the Arthurian legend of Tristan and Iseult, used Malpas as a crossing point. The Cathedral city of Truro in the heart of Cornwall is only about a 2 mile drive away and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Waitrose, Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. The resort of Newquay is about 16 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles, these include Nathan Outlaws Enodoc Hotel in Rock and Paul Ainsworths No 6 in Padstow, both of which have been awarded a Michelin Star. The yachting centres of Mylor, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach of the cottage. There is a watersports centre at nearby Loe Beach where you can hire kayaks, paddle boards and motorboats or brush up on your sailing skills with some lessons. The nearby Roseland Area of Outstanding Beauty with its superb coastal walks is also a short drive away via the King Harry Ferry.

Heel erg bedankt jongens

Tucked away on the banks of the River Fal, our secluded, wild location is one of the most unique settings in Cornwall. At the heart of the venue is the 300 year old Lost Cottage of Penperth. In addition there are 4 individual accommodation pods; the Treehouse, Potting Shed, Hunting Lodge and Shepherd's Hut. Set within an ancient oak woodland in a private creek, the scene is wild, creative and peaceful. It is the perfect getaway for big groups, families, friends, corporate and more.
There are 18 beds in total: the Treehouse (Sleeps 2), Potting Shed (4), Hunting Lodge (Sleeps 2), Shepherd's Hut (Sleeps 2) and the Cottage (Sleeps 8). Our adventurous venue has a large fire pit, long outdoor feast table, hammock area overlooking the river, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen including clay pizza oven and gas hobs. There are two toilets, two hot outdoor showers, a washing up area, as well as a large versatile barn, with wood burner and indoor seating; perfect for parties, dining, reading and relaxing. All this plus acres of woodland to roam and wild swimming in the river. The Fal estuary is also the perfect spot for kayaking, canoeing or fishing if you have your own equipment, or subject to availability, we can contact local companies to take groups out on the river in Canadian Canoes or offer kayak hire direct from our creek.
The Roseland Peninsula is a beautiful, peaceful part of Cornwall. The King Harry Ferry (also known as the moving bridge) makes it extremely accessible to Truro and Falmouth. The Roseland hosts some of the best beaches on the south coast (Porthbeor, Towan, Porthcurnick and Pendower just to name a few). All great for swimming and beach days and all within 15 minutes drive from our venue. Local villages such as Portscatho and St Mawes provide convenience stores, pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as picturesque views of the coastline. Boat trips from St Mawes to Falmouth run daily and frequently all year round (except in very bad weather). The Fal river - where we are based - is one of the deepest natural harbours in the world. It boasts beautiful scenery and wildlife. We highly recommend including some time on the river during your stay.
  • Het is een mooie En Magisch Plaats. Heel erg leuk.

    Clive2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastische locatie!

    Isabelle2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Lost Cottage of Penperth is echt een magische plek.

Zou aanraden!

    Andrea2019-09-14T00:00:00Z

Beautiful period cottage just a couple of minutes walk from the beaches, bars, restaurants, galleries, pubs and shops of the bustling old fishing village of St Mawes. Relax on the large sun deck with a glass of wine, looking out at the boats across the harbour. Or recline in the cosy cottage sitting room in front of the log burner, playing a selection of board games. 60mb wifi and parking space included, as are towels and bed linen.
The great thing about Fisherman's Cottage is that its a really cosy, homely environment, tucked away on a quiet street; yet its practically bang in the middle of the lively seaside village of St Mawes, with pubs and restaurants just minutes away. The cottage, along with the others in the same street, was built in the 1700s to accommodate local fishermen. We renovated the cottage in 2013, creating a warm, comfortable modern interior, whilst retaining its original character and features. The front door opens on to a large bright sitting room area with loads of sofa space and a lovely log burner. There are a selection of board games and a TV, Blu-ray player and Amazon Fire TV Box (loaded with a Netflix subscription) tucked discretely away in the corner cupboard - just in case you're unlucky with the weather! To the rear of the sitting room is a kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is new and well equipped. There is dishwasher, fan oven, induction hobs, toaster, kettle, microwave and filter coffee machine. Through the kitchen is a small utility area with the washer/dryer which opens to the sun deck at the rear of the cottage and a downstairs loo. The sun deck is really the jewel of the cottage's crown. There's a sea view and a table for some al fresco dining and a BBQ for those lazy summer evenings. Upstairs, the large double bedroom is a decent size, with plenty of storage space. There is also a more compact double room - the bed here is only accessible on one side - and a twin bunk room at the rear of the cottage. The bathroom is bright and fresh and has a bath with a shower over.
Fisherman's Cottage is brilliantly located in the heart of St Mawes. The sea/beach, The Rising Sun pub and Idle Rocks Hotel (boasting an excellent cocktail bar and restaurant!) are within 100 metres of the property. There are several very decent pubs and restaurants just a short walk away. An excellent mini-supermarket, Post Office, butcher, baker, pharmacy and fresh fish stall are within approximately 250 metres of the cottage. Lloyds Bank, Barclays bank (with ATM) and a small number of galleries, craft shops and clothing stores are all within a 5 minute walk. The famous St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII, with stunning views of Carrick Roads (the 3rd largest natural harbour in the world) is just a 10 minute walk from the cottage. There are some truly breathtaking coastal walks and views right on your doorstep. With or without a car, there are loads of fun things to do here. The coastline on the Roseland is, without doubt, the most stunning that the British Isles has to offer (not that I'm biased or anything!). The walks are amazing. But, if walking isn't your thing, St Mawes has some great restaurants and pubs and Falmouth (just a short ferry ride) is a charming seaside town with loads to offer. There's also watersports, golf courses, tennis courts, theme parks, gardens, boat trips, the Eden Project and many more exciting things to do in the area. Don't forget to check out the map at the bottom of this page where I have marked some local points of interest.
  • Fantastisch huisje!

    Kim2018-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Danny's plaats overtrof onze verwachtingen enorm. We zouden graag weer blijven.

Cove Cottage has the enviable location of being a stone's throw from the harbour in Portloe, and benefits from sea views, a terraced patio to the rear that looks down over the harbour and excellent, spacious, accommodation in this traditional fisherman's cottage.
Cove Cottage is brilliantly located a stone's throw from the harbour and beach right in the heart of the quintessential Cornish fishing village of Portloe. The entrance level is open plan with a spacious lounge at one end and kitchen dining room at the other, an open fire to keep you warm in the winter and a sun trap of a terrace which is surprisingly private being this close to the harbour. Portloe is one of those perfect little Cornish fishing villages, beautifully positioned around a stunning little cove and harbour. Like many such villages, smuggling played a large part in Portloe's history with many tales of cat and mouse games played between locals and the authorities! In 1824, the problem became so bad that Customs ordered the construction of a Watch House, boathouse and slipway in a vain attempt to deter the illicit trade. Accommodation Ground Floor: Back door is situated at this level and is approached through a narrow alleyway to the rear of the property it opens into a hallway with doors to a large twin bedroom, a wet room with shower WC and hand basin and stairs leading to: First Floor: Large Open plan living / dining and small kitchen area, with fully fitted units and all facilities. The living room area has an open fire and flat screen TV, double aspect, with windows over-looking harbour and patio. The front door leads onto the patio / garden area. Stairs lead up to; Second Floor: Master bedroom with 5' double bed, chest of drawers and window with views of the harbour. Family bathroom with bath with handheld shower, WC and hand basin. Second twin bedroom with storage and locked linen cupboard. Exterior: Patio area with chairs and tables and secondary raised decked area with views to the harbour. Facilities & Services Heating is via electric night storage heaters. The kitchen has a range of equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge / freezer. The Roseland Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms one of the finest sections of Cornwall's South Coast. From Mevagissey to St Mawes and bordered by the Fal Estuary to the west, the Roseland Peninsula has been drawing visitors for years with its splendid coastline, unique gardens, historic villages and superb sailing waters. A truly magnificent part of Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula is a wonderful place to spend a memorable holiday. With The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other the Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do.Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. The steep sided valley has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages". Broom Parc, the country house setting (now a B&B) for the Camomile Lawn a 1992 TV drama is a short walk up the coast path.It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet it has a really good local pub & hotel. The village itself is only a short drive from the other villages such as St Mawes. The city of Truro is also within a 25 minute drive. The Lugger Hotel with its excellent restaurant is only a few steps away and the Ship Inn is a short walk. The New Inn at Veryan serves food. There is also the Portloe Tea Room nearby. There is no general store in Portloe, however there are shops at Veryan (1.4 miles) and a Londis store at Bessy Beneath (3 miles). Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along past Towan beach and out to St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well-stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Gardens house a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. St Just-in-Roseland has arguably the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek. The Veryan Roundhouses are a must see, on the way to Nare Head, where you will find the most spectacular views of Gerrans Bay. The little village of Portloe nestles in lovely valley and is one of Cornwall's quintessential spots. Portscatho has a number of art galleries and many artists find the light in this harbour village inspires much of their work. The Roseland Inn at Philleigh is a 16th century pub just waiting for you to visit, as is the newly refurbished Smugglers Cottage at Tolverne, perfect for that afternoon Cornish Cream Tea, now run by Tregothnan Estate home to the UK's first tea plantation. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline.Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.
We zouden zeker terugkomen!

David, Kerry & familie (Worcestershire)

From The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other the Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do. The area is an excellent centre for visiting Cornwall's famous gardens, most of the major gardens all lie within a 25 mile radius; and are particularly magnificent in the spring when the magnolias, rhododendrons and camelias are in flower. The closest village to Crugsillick is Veryan - most famous for its nineteenth century thatched Round Houses. There are five in all, two pairs of which stand at each end of the village and another in the centre. They were originally built by the vicar, the Reverend Jeremiah Trist for his daughters and built in the round so that there were no corners where the devil could hide. A crucifix on the top of each one adds extra protection! Veryan has a children's playground, an excellent village shop and a good pub. Very close to Crugsillick is the lovingly restored Melinsey Mill which serves lunches and cream teas.A couple of miles to the east, Portloe is considered one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valley has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages". The Lugger Hotel has an excellent restaurant and the Ship Inn is also a good place to eat.St Mawes is a lovely small town with lots of places to eat from smart hotels to fish and chips, small shops and a pretty harbour with opportunities for sailing, kayaking and fishing. St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Garden has a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. There are many pretty churches in the area but St Just-in-Roseland has, arguably, the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek surrounded by exotic trees and shrubs.Portscatho overlooks the dramatic Gerrans Bay towards Nare Head. A quiet waterside village, Portscatho has a very pretty harbour, a good pub, an excellent general store, two modestly priced restaurants and three galleries. Above the closest beach, Porthcurnick, is the Hidden Hut - a well-known and excellent lunch, tea and ice cream venue. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists. More than anything, Portscatho is a place to relax.Events on the Roseland get a bit busier in August when sailing regattas, carnivals and fun days take place in many villages and the waters of the Carrick Roads. Year round, though, it is the beauty of the coast here that brings people back again and again. There are some stunning beaches around Gerrans Bay from Carne and Pendower in the east stretching round through Porthcurnick (Rosevine) and on to Towan and Porthbeor to the west, they are nearly all very accessible and have plenty of exposed sand at low tide and magical rock pools which can keep children engaged for hours. Most importantly compared to the hustle and bustle of the north coast they are comparatively empty!

We have enjoyed creating a stylish cosy guest space that fits in with it’s beautiful rural surroundings. Buzzard Outlook is situated in the hamlet of Porth Kea in an area of outstanding natural beauty, close to the backwaters of Coombe and Cowlands Creek. The picturesque Roundwood Quay is also very close by and a hidden gem. An ideal location for walkers, cyclists and for those who enjoy being in touch with nature. A tranquil, peaceful break away from the town or city centre (2 miles away).
The stylish open plan configuration is on one level with a fully fitted kitchen and dining area; the space is exceptionally light and airy with a modern yet cosy feel. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, cooker with ceramic hob and a coffee machine to provide our guests with those added extras. The property also offers a wood burning stove, double seater sofa with footstool and a flatscreen smart TV, free Wi-Fi and Netflix. The bedroom accommodates a comfortable king-size bed, flatscreen smart TV and ensuite shower room.
Buzzard Outlook is conveniently placed for exploring the north and south coast, tucked away in a very peaceful location set in rolling open countryside just 2 miles south of Truro. The National Trust 's Trelissick Gardens is within easy reach for keen walkers or cyclists, as is the King Harry Ferry that takes you across to the breathtaking Roseland peninsula. A car is recommended for exploring the Roseland Peninsula; a bike is also an option for the keener cyclist! The Cathedral City of Truro with it’s pretty cobbled streets and beautiful architecture is 2 miles away. It has plentiful shops, restaurants and coffee shops as well as a Farmer’s market every Saturday and Wednesday at Lemon Quay. The vibrant harbour town of Falmouth can be reached in approximately 15 minutes by car - it’s streets lined with shops, art galleries, cafés and restaurants. It’s beaches: Gylllngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth can be found where kayaks and paddle boards are available for hire to explore the coastline from the water. Gyllyngvase beach café comes highly recommended, as does Hooked On The Rocks fish restaurant at Swanpool beach and The Cove at Maenporth. The Wheel House is an amazing shell fish restaurant in Falmouth and extremely popular with the locals. The Meat Counter is great for Burgers, Rick Steins for Fish and Chips and The Ranch for a good Sunday Roast or Steak. The Pandora - a renowned creekside Inn, is in a picture postcard setting with it’s thatched roof, low beamed ceilings and traditional flagstone floors. It can be reached by car in approximately 15 minutes. The stunning sandy beaches on the north coast are circa 10 miles away: Perranporth, Porthtowan and Chapel Porth attract surfers and offer great beach bars too. Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay are also great beaches for surfing and not to be missed. Take a trip to Lelant St. Ives from Truro train station and visit the Porthminster Cafe, voted one of the top 10 beach cafés in The Times. You will have to book in advance! Located on the picturesque Porthminster beach. Our local well stocked Spar Shop with post office is approximately a mile and a half away.

The village of Tregony in Cornwall is often referrred to as the 'gateway to the Roseland'. The exceptionally wide Fore Street is a relic from the days when this was a busy port and market town with considerable traffic. The port has long since silted up due in part to china clay workings up stream, but Tregony has retained its charm. Tregony has an unusual clock tower on Fore Street and the seventeenth century almshouses which boast an unusual wooden gallery. The site of a twelfth century Norman castle known as ‘Treg-ney' from which the village got its name is situated on Tregony Hill. The woods and riverside in the area between here and Ruan Lanihorne are fantastic to explore. The river is a firm favourite with ornithologists the magical Lamorran Woods are alive with bluebells in the spring. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and the city of Truro are only a short drive away from Tregony.

Portscatho lies on the eastern edge of Cornwall's Roseland Peninsula, from where it boasts wide sweeping views of Gerrans Bay and excellent coastal paths to St Anthony's Head. Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor beaches are mere minutes away and the village of St Mawes is also only a short 10 minute drive.Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are lovely places to spend a holiday.Ten minutes away you have the Round Houses at Veryan, or St Mawes Castle built by Henry the VIII. You can walk to St Anthony and take in the views from the Headland, right across the bay to the Manacle Rocks, back past the entrance to the Helford River, Maenporth, Falmouth and round to St Mawes. Gerrans Bay is a relatively sheltered bay and is often filled with ships sheltering from the Atlantic, or waiting to go into Falmouth Docks. You never know what you will see moored up. In 2009 a car transporter famously sat just off Pencabe Point for the summer.

Alles is zoals beschreven.

With The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other the Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do. The delightful and charming village of Veryan on the Roseland Peninsula is most famous for its nineteenth century thatched Round Houses. There are five in all, two pairs of which stand at each end of the village and another in the centre. They were originally built by a missionary named Reverend Jeremiah Trist for his daughters. In a round house there are no corners where the devil can hide. A crucifix on the top of each one adds extra protection! Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valleys has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages". Nearby is the lovingly restored Melinsey Mill where you can relax in a charming valley with a delicious Cornish cream tea. St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline. Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place. Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. More than anything, Portscatho is a place to relax. There are some stunning beaches around Gerrans Bay from Carne and Pendower in the east stretching round through Porthcurnick (Rosevine) and on to Towan and Porthbeor at the west, they are nearly all very accessible and have plenty of exposed sand at low tide and magical rock pools which can keep children engaged for hours! Most importantly compared to the hustle and bustle of the north coast they are comparatively empty!

A Wooden studio chalet right on the edge of the Tresillian river. Inside there is a small kitchenette area allowing the freedom to cook, a table and chairs by the window enabling eating with a view, a bathroom with a shower and a large kingsize bed with a memory foam mattress for your comfort. Upstairs there is an extra lounge area with TV. Outside is your own private courtyard with heated seating area undercover right by the river. There are additional lounging seats to enjoy our summers.
Your space is right beside the river therefore you are welcome to bring your paddle boards or kayaks with you and enjoy the river. Please be aware the river is tidal and not in all day. We also have a covered area suitable for storing bikes during your stay, this is open and not lockable. You can fish in the river as long as you hold a UK river licence. This can be purchased at the post office right next door. Please note these activities are not covered as part of your stay and will be undertaken entirely with your own equipment and at your own risk. We do not provide activities and are not covered for them by insurance.
We are two and a half miles from Truro city centre but once you come into our driveway it can feel as if you are miles from the city. Opposite the rive, it is treelined and there is lots of wildlife to see, from birds to deer. You can Kayak on the river as long as you are happy to work with the tide as the river is tidal. We are on the main road through Tresillian next to the petrol station, this also has a shop and post office to offer services close by. There is a village pub within walking distance and a pasty shop for an easy lunch. Waitrose is a mile up the road to enable more food shopping and there is a good selection of main stream and individual shops in Truro. There is a bus stop approximately 200 yards from the property on a main bus route which serves all of Cornwall and beyond. There is a train station in Truro and an airport 16 miles away near Newquay.
  • Heel lief klein chalet. Zeer schoon ingericht naar een hoge standaard. Prachtig uitzicht.

We voelden ons goed.

    Lena2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
