My neighborhood is nestled along Ruffner Mountain which not only makes for good hiking but also some great wildlife watching. I purchased my home mid 2017 and have been updating & renovating as I can while preserving its old charm, with that being said, it is a work in progress. Please note: this home is currently on the market to be sold. There may be showings during your stay.

The Roebuck Springs subdivision is a historic residential neighborhood in Birmingham's Roebuck Springs - South Roebuck neighborhood. The subdivision was created on land granted in 1825 to pioneer farmer Audly Hamilton. His property, located in Jones Valley and on the northern slope of Red Mountain. The property adjoined Georgia Road, which approached through Sadler's Gap, and Blountsville Road (now 4th Avenue South). The grant was passed down through the Wilson family and, by the turn of the 20th century the 200-acre parcel was known as the "Hood-Brown Property". The East Lake Land Company partnered with the Roebuck Auto and Golf Club in 1909 to purchase the land and finance the development of a companion residential neighborhood for the newly-opened golf course. Robert Jemison Jr, son of one of the partners in the East Lake Land Company, was commissioned to plan the project, along with its companion, the smaller Roebuck Terrace subdivision. Jemison, inspired by contemporary automobile suburbs, planned the neighborhood with narrow, curving roads and estate-size lots. The planners made liberal use of terraces held up by fieldstone walls to shape the land. A variety of homes in the Craftsman, English Arts & Crafts and Tudor Revival styles were constructed. Many of the new residences were large, but some, intended as summer cottages, were rather modest in size. Architect S. Scott Joy and his brothers, Tedd and Tom, participated in the design and construction of many of those first estates. Wilson's Spring was impounded south of Valley Lake Drive to create a small reservoir to provide piped water to those homes. The neighborhood's homes were connected to the Birmingham Water Works in 1923, but the reservoir remained in use as a popular neighborhood swimming hole. Additional sections of the neighborhood were platted in 1926 by the Roebuck Springs Land Company. Many of these homes were designed in the then-popular Colonial Revival style. Some newly-opened streets, such as Ridge Top Circle and Rutherford Circle remained unimproved during the Great Depression and World War II years. The Post-war years saw rapid development surrounding Roebuck Springs, with the sprawling Roebuck Plaza Shopping Center and the development of Roebuck Parkway. In some cases large lots were re-divided. New residential construction in the historic subdivision was typically more compact and introduced more stripped-down, functional styles of architecture. Later construction, in the 1950s and 1960s, brought split-level and ranch style houses into the area. The construction of Interstate 59 through Roebuck in the late 1960s required the demolition of numerous historic houses on Old Blountsville Road and separated the residential neighborhood from the golf course by cutting across Roebuck Street (89th Street South).

  • Devin & Wade waren fantastische en aardige gastheren. Ze verwelkomden ons met open armen in hun prachtige huis. Voor aankomst gaven ze ons geweldige aanbevelingen voor restaurants (die fantastisch waren). Ze lieten ons meteen thuis voelen. Hun hond, Snoopy, is ook de liefste en houdt ervan om geaaid te worden. Als ik terugkom naar Birmingham zal dat om twee redenen zijn: Devin & Wade en het geweldige eten in de stad.

The rooms are located downstairs and the owners do spend time on the main level of the home but the noise is minimal, mainly a few footsteps can be heard from time to time but no loud music or conversations. We take pride in providing a clean, safe for you! We want our guests to be comfortable and enjoy every minute of their time in our home. We are thorough and accommodating when needed.     Lovely Mid-Century Modern Stone Rambler, on 2.25 acres. Home has been renovated and is situated in a quiet neighborhood just blocks from the highway, shopping, & dining. Private B/R with queen bed, its own coffee niche, private frig & microwave, as well as an en-suite bath.
    Plentiful parking in the circular driveway. Lots of room for enjoying the outdoors. Sit a while on the tree swing, or cookout on the patio. A very friend Sheepadoodle lives here. He doesn't shed and is hypoallergenic.
    Very friendly and quiet neighborhood. The setting is pastoral and the road is heavily treed, curvy and hilly.

The kitchen has pots and pans for cooking, plates, cups, bowls, and silverware to eat your meals. It is also located to nearby restaurants. Shopping centers are within a 10 minute drive. The neighborhood is quiet with very little traffic. Easy access to a main parkway and interstate to get to downtown Birmingham. We are 15 minutes from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
    The unique location of this property is that it isn’t in a busy or crowded city center, but it is close enough downtown, the airport, shopping malls, and restaurants.
    The neighborhood is several single family homes and neighbors who keep to themselves. The house itself is on a corner so it is easy access to get in and out.

A canopy of oak, pecan, and chestnut trees shelters the land, and all you can see is native flora and fauna. The house on the property is a cozy little respite, perfect for solo writing and retreat or gathering for a little alone time with the fam.
    Historic Roebuck Springs is a gem within the City of Birmingham. Located just Northeast of metro-Birmingham, we are a 10-15 minute drive to the Airport and a 15-20 minute drive to city center. For the nature-lover, the neighborhood is a pure joy to walk and explore. In addition, we sit just north of Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve--a 1,038-acre urban nature preserve and one of the largest privately held 501 (c) (3) urban nature preserves in the United States.

  • Hield van de ruimte. Je hebt echt een privé-retraite. We hebben een heerlijke dag gehad waar we ons gewoon hebben ontspannen. Het was vooral geweldig voor onze honden om zo goed te spelen. Als hondeneigenaar was het echt leuk om mijn hond mee te nemen. De gastheer, gaf ons een rondleiding en liet ons de ins en outs van de plaats zien. Het was geweldig!

  • Wauw. Is echt de manier om het te beschrijven. Het is een gezellige, mooie, rustige en mooie ruimte. Het wordt omgeven door prachtig groen en je kunt de vuurvliegjes 's nachts overal zien rondzweven. Ryan was de meest meegaande gastheer ooit. Dit is een klein juweeltje van een plek en ik kon er niet genoeg Instagram-afbeeldingen van posten. Ik hou van kleine details en ze hebben het. Een platenspeler en platen. Love Andrew Bird ... (: en alleen al door de boekencollectie zul je nooit meer weg willen. Als je van het buitenleven houdt en de vogels, vlinders en een lieve pup die over het grondgebied zwerft kan waarderen, dan is dit jouw plek.   • Mijn familie en ik verbleven hier voor 4 nachten aan het einde van een 2 -weekse reis en we konden niet gelukkiger zijn met het juweeltje van een accommodatie die we op Airbnb vonden. De accommodatie is door de provincie beschouwd als een toevluchtsoord voor dieren in het wild en een historisch landgoed. De gastheren, hoop en Ryan kon niet vriendelijker en meegaandiger zijn. De woonkamer heeft een bibliotheek met een verbazingwekkende en gevarieerde collectie boeken. Het interieur heeft een typisch Boheemse uitstraling die elke gast met een goed gevoel zal voorzien. Er is een platenspeler met een grote verzameling muziekkeuzes. De ontbijthoek biedt een prachtig uitzicht op de serre, de speelkamer, de vuurplaats en de tuin. Er is ook een Koi-visvijver op het terrein. Er zijn twee comfortabele bedden, kussens en dekens. De hitte werkte prima tijdens de koude periode die we tegenkwamen, dus wij, Floridians, waren daar erg dankbaar voor. Het terrein heeft veel buiten loopruimte en honderden prachtige vogels te zien en te horen in de ochtend en middag. Er was een probleem met de droger en wifi die Hope en Ryan snel behandelden en die updates en oplossingen gaven voor het verhelpen ervan. De droger en wifi was ook tijdens ons verblijf die was geweldig. Als u op zoek bent naar een geweldige Airbnb-ervaring in een unieke accommodatie in een geweldige buitenwijk van Birmingham (Roebuck Springs) dan raad ik deze accommodatie ten zeerste aan.

  • Dit is tot nu toe mijn meest favoriete AirBnB-ervaring geweest! We stopten bij Hope thuis als een pitstop op weg naar New Orleans vanuit Philly, en het was perfect. Het was ook kerstavond, dus de meeste winkels waren gesloten en we waren echt moe van de lange rit, maar de bedachtzaamheid van Hope hielp zo veel! Ze had wat fruit voor ons uitgestald en een paar ontbijtrepen. Het huis had een goed gevulde voorraadkast en er was ook een paar goede koffie. Nu, over het huis, ik kan er niet genoeg over zeggen. Ze hebben een geweldige bibliotheek met boeken voor mensen van alle leeftijden; ze hadden ook genoeg bordspellen. Ze hadden ook een vinyl platenspeler met een goede verzameling muziek. En, prachtige kunstwerken rond het huis. Als we de volgende dag niet hoefden uit te rijden, zouden we zeker nog een nacht hebben blijven. Het was perfect voor 4 personen, zoals geadverteerd. Er was een klein probleempje, hoewel WiFi niet werkte toen we binnenkwamen, maar Hope belde de ISP voor ons en had voortdurend contact met me om ons te helpen erachter te komen. Als ik weer in het gebied van Birmingham ben, weet ik waar ik zou willen blijven.

    Relaxing atmosphere to help you regroup for work or traveling. Quiet neighborhood very convenient to both Highway 459 and Interstate 20. Twenty minutes from the airport as well. You will have a large, private bedroom with a private bathroom. Completely renovated space. All new appliances. Semi-private indoor courtyard with entrance from your bedroom for relaxing or reading after a long day. The great part is you will be helping my son pay for college... he runs the AirBnB to pay tuition!
    There is a common entrance and the upstairs is occupied by myself and my very quiet 18-year-old son. There are a washer and dryer available for emergencies. The rest of the house is being renovated by me but only when I do not have guests or when guests are not home. I am very conscientious not to disturb guest but I want you to know why you see what looks like renovations... because they are! Your room was the first to get done and it turned out beautiful.
    The neighborhood is central to all points of beautiful Birmingham. There is a cute, very small area in Irondale where you can watch the trains while you have lunch. There are a couple of great thrift stores nearby if you love to thrift shop. We are just a short drive to Avondale where you will find plenty of trendy places to eat and drink as well as beautiful Avondale park. 10 minutes on Highway 459 and you can be at the Galleria Mall where there is a Dave & Busters. 20 minutes to our amazing downtown and you can visit the Civil Rights Institute, 16th Street Baptist Church, attend a play at Red Mountain Theater or just relax and the tranquil yet bustling Railroad park that sits directly next to Regions Baseball field. If you are the outdoor type, be sure to try our amazing hiking trails at either Red Mountain Park, Ruffner Moutain or Moss Rock Preserve.

    Cozy & private attic bedroom in EAST BIRMINGHAM (Irondale) with WIFI can sleep up to three. Guests will have access to their own bathroom on ground floor. From front door, guests are a mile away from the Irondale entrance of Ruffner Mountain--a fantastic hiking trail through nature. Cahaba River is also close by. Quiet, family-friendly suburban neighborhood NEAR downtown; car needed. Irondale is a suburb east of Birmingham--this location is NOT in downtown BHM.
    We are an easy-going family, trying to make some extra money. We love the location of our house because while not far from the city, we are also a mile away from an escape to Ruffner Mountain hiking trail and a few miles from the Cahaba River. Our neighborhood also hosts The Irondale Cafe, featured in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes-- walkable from our home. If you need a place to lay your head, we offer a no frills, cozy private room at a reasonable price. This is not the Ritz Carlton--hence it costing under $50 a night, ya dig? WE ARE NOT LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN OR SOUTHSIDE BIRMINGHAM. This is a suburb of Birmingham. Interstates and highways are easily accessible from our neighborhood. Should be noted that we have kids, a cat & three dogs. Folks with allergies or pet/child aversions, this will not be the place for you.
    I've previously mentioned we love being close to the Cahaba river & Ruffner. (Ask me about Ruffner if you're interested in hiking. There have been recent changes with the Irondale entrance.) This is a quiet, laid back family oriented neighborhood, so those who prefer wild nightlife, you will likely be underwhelmed.

Ze adviseerde een heerlijke bbq-plek in de buurt waar we van hielden en gaf ons ook suggesties voor ons bezoek aan McWane Science Center. Zou zeker weer boeken.

    My home is located minutes from the airport. The location is just 2 blocks from I-20 and a block away from US-78. It is convenient to get anywhere in the Birmingham metro area. The growing downtown city life is an easy drive. Avondale, Lakeview, Historic 5Points South are all within 5-15 minutes away. I am located just a few blocks from Ruffner Mt Wildlife Preserve and the Whistle Stop Cafe (Fanny Flags: Fried Green Tomatoes). Our area provides Uber/lyft drivers and cab companies.
    I have a cute home built in the mid 50’s. The lovely little neighborhood is the best with some of the friendliest neighbors ever. The location to downtown and surrounding areas is extremely convenient. I have a dog and two cats.
    The little neighborhood is filled with generations of family members with the edition of young families and single adults. There are several friends, like me that live in parent or grandparents homes. Some have even moved back to the neighborhood after being gone several years. It feels like our street is one big family tree.

    The home's bedrooms have comfortable beds with soft, quality 100% cotton bedding, feather duvets, extra blankets, and feather and hypoallergenic pillows. Living room is cozy with its warm leather furniture, ambient lighting and 32"Smart TV ( Netflix, Hulu, Prime channels). The kitchen has an eclectic mix of unique vintage finds and everything you need for cooking and baking, including a stainless-steel refrigerator, dishwasher, gas cook-top and oven, microwave, coffeemaker, cookware, toaster, etc. Casita has an inviting furnished front porch for relaxation and back deck for outdoor dining.
    South East Lake is a metro neighborhood in the throes of revitalization. The area is safe, reasonably quiet and urban. We have personally renovated 28 homes in the surrounding blocks, but we haven't gotten them all. You will see houses under restoration during your stay, and quite a few that need it. Enjoy!

    My wife and I basically live on the first floor of our home. We're offering one or two bedrooms and a private bathroom on our second floor. We're mere minutes from the interstate, 20 minutes north of downtown Birmingham, and only a fifteen minute drive to the airport. Plenty of shopping and dining options right outside the neighborhood. It's a great home base for anyone spending some time in the Birmingham area.
    Please note we share our home with 2 dogs, a Puggle and a Golden Retriever. They are closed off from the upstairs and will not disturb you.

Xlarge fenced yard (your pups are welcome) and Xlarge deck with 2 designated dining areas, firepit, and even more seating. Electric fireplace for winter, lots of books to read, board games, stereo in dining room. Lowest crime rate in Bham, Close to Planet Fitness, Target, Walmart & tons of restaurants.
    My neighborhood is quite and clean- lowest crime rate in the metro- Going to Metro Diner on Hwy 11 is a must for breakfast. Walgreens and CVS less than a mile away. Drive 5 miles into Trussville and reach the Pinnacle Shops from there you can find Chico's Best Buy, Home Depot, a ton of chain and local restaurants, Books A Million, Spare Time Bowling, Hair Salons, Target, eat outdoors with the best tacos ever at Taco Mama (A Bham favorite)- literally anything you could need. Planet Fitness is less than a mile from my home. This is just a nice little neighborhood tucked away in South Roebuck-Roebuck Springs. Having run the local REALTOR Association, I have heard it called the hidden jewel of Birmingham. You are about 15-20 minutes from Downtown Birmingham - just get on 59 and stay on it. Drive just another mile or two and visit Vulcan Park- and our famous statute in historic Homewood. Homewood and Mountainbrook are just minutes away off 59 an MountainBrook has been named Tree City by the Arbor Foundation 20 years running- lots of parks and beautiful histroic homes to look at it. Within 20 minutes you can vitis historic 5 points and dine at the 2019 BEARD Award Winner- The Highlands Grill. Tip: You will need reservations and they are often booked out months ahead, right next door and owned by the same chef is Chez Fon Fon- foor is amazing!

    Your guest room is just that. "Guest room" but feel comfortable. Never touch thermostat for I have breathing problems! Cut all lights off that your not using as I'm trying to keep my light bill down.

    You are located 30 minutes north of Birmingham, Alabama, a thriving city with a rich food and music scene.   • De kinderen en ik hadden een geweldige en rustige tijd midden in de natuur. De gastheer heeft uitstekend werk geleverd om ervoor te zorgen dat we alles hadden wat we nodig hadden. We houden van de geschenkmand en hebben ervan genoten! De cabine heeft een cool ontwerp van binnen en van buiten. Verwacht in de zomer een warm en vochtig weer, zelfs in het huis is een kleine ventilator aanwezig, maar zorg ervoor dat je extra oplaadbare ventilatoren meeneemt. Het is koeler aan de rivier en een extraatje voor het gebied. We hebben zelfs een picknick gehad aan de rivier! Mijn kinderen hebben zelfs die avond een kampvuur gemaakt voor wat gesuis!   • We konden niet om een betere reis hebben gevraagd. De hut is geweldig en Rachel en Glenn waren geweldig. Wandelen naar snacks en cadeaus voor ons begon de reis goed. Ontspannen, vissen en drijven in de rivier was precies wat we nodig hadden. Ik was nerveus om voor te stellen op een plek waar ik nog nooit was geweest, maar alles aan dit weekend maakte het tot het perfecte voorstel! We zijn onze reis al aan het plannen.

    This is a small historic home built in the 1930’s. It has been restored with original hardwood floors in 90% of the rooms. Everything about this home is simple and not complicated.

    This is a shared space with the owners of the house. Must be ok with an occasional visit from a very small and well behaved dog. We try to keep her contained for the most part while we have guests. Brand new house with 2 private rooms and a private bathroom. Minutes away from the airport, 12 to be exact, and 15 from downtown. We are close to good food, bars, and shops in Irondale, Mountain Brook, and Crestwood. 5 minutes from interstate 459, 59, and 20.
    You'll have a private bedroom and bath, and access to the rest of the house including the washer and dryer, and kitchen. You will be provided toiletries, a hairdryer, and fresh towels. Feel free to watch cable on either the living room or your bedroom tv. Help yourself to the coffee, tea and everything the kitchen has to offer. Driveway and street parking are available. We like to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer after a long day, please feel free to join us!

Within a 20 minute drive are all of the following: Summit Shopping Mall, Vulcan Park and Museum, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Regions Park – Barons Baseball, Museum of Art, multiple local breweries, Birmingham Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Railroad Park, McWane Science Center, Oak Mountain State Park, Ruffner Park, Red Mountain Park, Barber Motor Sports, Grand River Outlet Mall, Dave & Busters, Sloss Furnace National Historic Museum, Carraway-Davies House (5 minute drive), Church of the Highlands (3 minute drive), Liberty Park, Alabama Veterans Memorial Park, Movie Theaters and multiple fine and casual dining restaurants.     The Roebuck Springs subdivision is a historic residential neighborhood in Birmingham's Roebuck Springs - South Roebuck neighborhood. The subdivision was created on land granted in 1825 to pioneer farmer Audly Hamilton. His property, located in Jones Valley and on the northern slope of Red Mountain. The property adjoined Georgia Road, which approached through Sadler's Gap, and Blountsville Road (now 4th Avenue South). The grant was passed down through the Wilson family and, by the turn of the 20th century the 200-acre parcel was known as the "Hood-Brown Property". The East Lake Land Company partnered with the Roebuck Auto and Golf Club in 1909 to purchase the land and finance the development of a companion residential neighborhood for the newly-opened golf course. Robert Jemison Jr, son of one of the partners in the East Lake Land Company, was commissioned to plan the project, along with its companion, the smaller Roebuck Terrace subdivision. Jemison, inspired by contemporary automobile suburbs, planned the neighborhood with narrow, curving roads and estate-size lots. The planners made liberal use of terraces held up by fieldstone walls to shape the land. A variety of homes in the Craftsman, English Arts & Crafts and Tudor Revival styles were constructed. Many of the new residences were large, but some, intended as summer cottages, were rather modest in size. Architect S. Scott Joy and his brothers, Tedd and Tom, participated in the design and construction of many of those first estates. Wilson's Spring was impounded south of Valley Lake Drive to create a small reservoir to provide piped water to those homes. The neighborhood's homes were connected to the Birmingham Water Works in 1923, but the reservoir remained in use as a popular neighborhood swimming hole.   • Zeer aardige en open gastheren die echt alles delen. Je voelt je welkom, net als bij goede vrienden blijven. Alles is zo mooi als op de foto's en klopt precies. Het gebied is erg idyllisch en rustig. Elke centimeter van het appartement is schoon, iets dat we tijdens onze vakantie zijn gaan waarderen. We waren vooral blij om te koken in de prachtige keuken en om te spelen met de echt schattige hond. We hadden graag langer willen blijven en kunnen de accommodatie volledig aanbevelen.

I can give you plenty of suggestions for the tastiest spots with the best atmosphere, if you're curious. Welcome to Birmingham!
    Ruffner Park is a great place for an afternoon hike and is only 10 minutes away. Crestwood Park is the perfect spot to get outside and go for a walk (three minutes away). The Filling Station is a great neighborhood restaurant to grab a burger and local craft beer (two minutes away). And Saw's Juke Joint is one of the best BBQ places in BHM (four minutes away). You may even be lucky enough to catch some live music there, too!
