We verbleven zes nachten. Een comfortabele, frisse en lichte ruimte. Een prachtige tuin. Tony is erg behulpzaam geweest.

    Hans2019-06-19T00:00:00Z

Spacious rooms in magnificent listed Georgian mansion - one of the most beautiful and oldest houses in Torquay. With up-to 5 rooms available it's ideal for families and groups of friends. Every room is large and bright. There's plenty of parking along with the peace and quiet of a secluded, totally private location.
On the 2nd floor are three double bedrooms, a huge sitting/dining room (with sofa bed), a shower room and a snug with microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. On the floor below there is a spectacular double with private modern shower/wet room and access to a shared bathroom. With sea views from both of the double bedrooms and the sitting room on the second floor, we think you'll find these one of the nicest AirBnBs you'll have stayed in. If you choose to book the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor then you will have exclusive use of the shower room, snug (with microwave, fridge kettle and toaster) and massive sitting room; it's basically a three bedroomed apartment accessed through the main house. If you are booking for 9 or 10 people please be aware that one/two of these will need to use the sofa bed in the 2nd floor sitting room (or we can add a single bed to one of the double bedrooms).
Ideally situated for the Riviera International Centre, International Agatha Christie Festival, Torquay beach, the Princess theatre and Torquay station - all are a short walk away. The Chelston part of Torquay is a leafy suburb with lots of fine Victorian villas and the seafront is but a 10 minute walk. The award winning Cockington Court and historic Torre Abbey are both within easy walking distance.

The barn is nestled in a small hamlet with a handful of houses and makes the perfect base for a spot of isolation. You will be hard pushed to bump into anyone. Get away and soak up our wonderful view over Devon countryside and the fresh air! We take our guests’ health seriously, ensuring every surface is cleaned with disinfectant and we use high water temperatures for all our washing. We also provide cleaning products, soap and hand wash that you can use during your stay.
Our barn is stocked with essential food items as well as an ‘honesty’ mini bar. We also provide logs for the fire, plenty of magazines, books, games, WiFi and a TV. Most guests don’t even need to see or interact with us, the hosts, but only if they wish to, at a safe distance. Our closest village, Stoke Gabriel, is still open for business with a well-stocked village shop offering free food deliveries and The River Shack on the water front of the River Dart is open for al fresco dining and take-away wood-fired pizza. There are countless green lanes, fields, paths, hills, coastal walks and valleys to traipse over with little human contact. We can provide you with a list of all the spots where you can visit. Our place nestles in the small hamlet of Aish above the village of Stoke Gabriel near Totnes. Sit in front of the wood burning stove and peer out of the double height window to the fields and the river Dart beyond. Some mornings, you’ll see our resident male pheasant strutting his stuff on the garden wall. Occasionally, you may also spot a deer or two in the orchard or fields below. We are environmentally minded and do as much as we can to help lower our impact on the planet. Please see below, and our house manual, for a list of our eco credentials. We have used high quality fixtures and fittings throughout. The king sized bed is super comfy. The sofa bed is brand new and is a pull-out version rather than one of those uncomfortable fold out ones! The kitchen has been made bespoke by a local artisan and comes equipped with everything you might need including a full size oven, microwave and a small hob. As the space is small we can't include absolutely everything but please do ask us if you need anything at all! We also leave essentials such as tea, coffee, milk, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper ready in the kitchen making it that much easier to relax the minute you arrive. The garden is adjacent to our own but has its own little terrace with a small table and chairs - as well as a BBQ. We have kept the place as uncluttered as possible to allow guests to escape the everyday. However, if there is anything you feel you need please just ask and I'm sure we can provide it! Please note that it is best to have your own transport if staying with us as Aish has no amenities. The closest shop, pubs and restaurants are in the village of Stoke Gabriel which is a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk away. We are environmentally minded and do as much as we can to help lower our impact on the planet. Here are a few of the things we do: The barn is run entirely on electricity and therefore uses no fossil fuels. We have a 4kw solar panel system on our roof that helps generate electricity for the barn. For any further electricity we use Bulb Energy, which buys all of its electricity from renewable sources. We use biodegradable bin liners and recycled loo/ kitchen rolls. We use refillable options for cleaning products and washing powders that do not come in plastic. We use entirely organic ingredients in our scones and leave you organic, local milk. The teabags we choose (Clipper) have no plastic in them unlike most teabags. You will find reusable shopping bags for you to use in the kitchen. We provide a water filter so you don't need to buy bottled water. We recycle as much as possible.
A short drive away, nearby Stoke Gabriel is a lively village with a well-stocked village shop, two pubs, a BYO bistro, and a cafe on the waterfront by the Mill Pond. Totnes and all its restaurants, cafes, and shops is also close by car.

Location, location, location. Situated in the very heart of the village centre on the River Dart, you can explore all of the facilities right from your doorstep as well as having access to the beautiful South Devon coast and countryside. This private ground floor apartment has been lovingly restored from what was the local Post Office for over 100 years. The olde worlde theme is complemented by luxury finishes such as a bespoke kitchen, new ensuite facility and a warm, snug fireplace.
The kitchen/living area is open plan, spacious and comfortable. You can dine formally at the table by the window or on your lap by the fireplace and tv. Cosy, relaxing armchairs allow you to sit back, read a paper or good book in quiet, private surroundings. The separate bedroom has an ensuite shower and toilet. Out of your front door is the village centre with its pubs, eateries, Post Office store and newsagents, ancient village church (with 800 year old yew tree) and orchard which leads down to the mill pond and river. To eat and drink; There are 2 pubs serving excellent food. Emma's Bistro does great home cooking with a varied menu including locally sourced fish. It is not licensed so you can take your own alcohol (no corkage charge)! The Rivershack lies on the river Dart and offers snacks and a Bistro style menu as well as local beers, ciders and wine. A lovely setting and booking is advisable in peak periods. Stoke Gabriel has no main roads, lots of country lanes to explore as well as the riverside walk. The accommodation doesn't have outside space of its own but the orchard and mill pond are on your doorstep. The village is a typical and beautiful Devon village in an area of outstanding natural beauty, safe to walk around with its old narrow roads, mill pond, orchard and riverside access.
This riverside village offers all you need for a relaxing holiday or a short break away. A walk by the river, stroll around the country lanes, take lunch in the pubs, it's all on your doorstep. A superb base to explore the South Devon coast, countryside and Dartmoor.

Treat yourself to bed and breakfast in our spacious, restored thatched cottage, nestled amongst traditional cider apple orchards, on the edge of Torbay. We only take one booking at a time for up to 4 guests, in two double rooms. Both rooms are double bedded rooms. Bookings of up to two guests will occupy the first room only. The second room is used for bookings of 3 or 4 persons. If a booking for 2 people requires separate rooms then you will need to book for 3 people.
Surround yourself in glorious Devon countryside. At the bottom of a peaceful South Devon valley lies the historic King William Cottage, named after Prince William of Orange who dined here on his journey from Brixham to London to take the Crown in 1647. The cottage is a traditional thatched Devon longhouse nesting amongst old Devon cider apple orchards. You will be welcomed by cobbled and flag stone floors and a large south facing garden perfect for tea time. Hilary and David have carefully restored this beautiful old house, and welcome you to stay in the vaulted ceilinged and spacious bedroom. There is a bathroom with shower just down the hall for your exclusive use during your stay. The bedroom has a very comfortable double Hypnos bed, tea and coffee facilities and a table to work at if required. WiFi is available. A second double room is available for groups up to four and is used for a booking of 3 or more. Breakfast ingredients are sourced locally and make full use of the wonderful food that Devon produces. Hilary Burns is a well known basket maker, and the room houses some of her collection of baskets from around the world. She also has some of her own baskets available to view and purchase. You can wander in the large flower-filled working garden, from which the herbs, vegetables and fruit are often used in the cooking.
We live in the countryside on the very edge of Paignton, but are still conveniently placed for easy access to the rest of Torbay - Torquay and Brixham, with lots of lovely beaches on hand. Nearby are Totnes, the River Dart, South Hams and Dartmoor as well as the cities of Exeter and Plymouth. The town of Totnes is just 10 minutes away and provides plenty of interesting independent shopping and coffee shops. Dartmouth, Torquay and the fishing town of Brixham are close by. Dartmoor is less than an hour away and offers great walking, climbing and pony trekking. Local Devon cider is available from the farm just down the road.

Goede oefening echter;)

Just inland from some of Devon’s loveliest and most natural beaches lies the village of Tuckenhay set along Bow Creek on the River Dart...." In a setting of stunning natural beauty, Tuckenhay Mill is the centrepiece of a cluster of country homes and cottages with superb leisure facilities including two indoor and one outdoor pools, making it ideal for a family holiday for all ages. The Mill which once produced some of the finest paper in the land, nestles in the green and shady Bow Creek, a languid inlet of the River Dart where private yachts have replaced the old tall-masted ships and barges. Around the mill are all the buildings which once went to make up a small bustling village port. These listed buildings have been sympathetically restored and converted to a delightful range of holiday properties to suit larger family parties. Awards have been won for the conversion of buildings and the conservation of the area. With so much to do, many holidaymakers return year after year. South Devon awaits you Tuckenhay is only a 20-minute drive from the superb award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands and about 30 minutes from a surfing beach at Bantham, as well as some of the best natural beaches to be found anywhere in the UK. There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding. This is a mecca for ramblers, bird-watchers, swimmers, surfers, horse riders, golfers and those interested in fishing, boating, sailing and windsurfing. In addition, there are many historic NT houses to visit including Agatha Christies’s Greenway as well as a local vineyard (with award-winning wines) at Sharpham. Tuckenhay is only 5 miles inland from Dartmouth and 3 from the market town of Totnes. Village shop 3½ miles. Riverside inn and restaurant within walking distance. A superb choice of cottages Each of the cottages has been individually styled to offer comfortable and spacious accommodation. Great care has been taken to retain the feel of the original buildings and extensive use has been made of traditional materials. Most have garden, terrace or patio. Individual cottage details are shown on the following pages. Many cottages have more than one bathroom and some have an en-suite bathroom to every bedroom. Kitchens are comprehensively equipped: most have dishwashers and all have microwave cookers. Couples and honeymooners will feel snug and comfortable in the small cottages: Mill Leat, Mill Stream and Mill Spring. Families can spread out in Papermaker’s or Turbine Cottages, while Mill Lodge, Edgecombe Barn and Tuckenhay Mill House will sleep larger parties in comfort. Of course, combinations of cottages can accommodate bigger gatherings of family or friends."

    Daniel2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Glen's plaats is zoals beschreven. Zal aanbevelen.

    Kevin2019-11-23T00:00:00Z

Geweldige kleine vakantie weg, zou zeker weer boeken kijken.
