Incredible Japanese and Korean fusion restaurant and cocktail bar downtown. Some of the cities best chefs and bartenders in a great space. Highly recommend!

Incredible little bakery owned by Bryn, who moved back from Montreal to open this bakery. Incredible red fife loafs, coffee, and if you go one Wednesdays, the best bagels ever. Try it on Friday evenings for their wood-fired pizza nights.

One of the best date night spots. Alla Famiglia style Italian dining in a cute little prairie homestead vibe restaurant. Excellent service and incredible ingredients. I recommend posting up at the pasta bar to interact with chefs and watch your edible masterpieces being created. Reservations required, and note that this place can be quite pricey.

Great little neighbourhood pub in the middle of downtown. In addition to the great sandwiches, soups, and beer selection, what you really wanna go here for is one of their weekly trivia night. A blast if you're traveling with a group!

Hard to beat the vibes in this little martini bar. You'll find it at the end of 2nd avenue, and depending on the night you go, they'll be hosting an art show, having a hipster karaoke night, or just showing silent movies on the wall and focusing on the drinks. Great little space with a good crowd if you're after a cocktail.

If you're into jazz, this place (hidden in the basement of a downtown office building) is an incredible little secret spot with amazing sound, good food platters, and good drinks. On Thursday nights they venture out of the jazz realm and host some great touring folk acts. Check out their website for listings.

Parks & Nature

Beautiful park that runs along the river. Prime for playing frisbee, setting up a hammock, having a picnic, or if it's winter, skating at one of the most beautiful rinks in Canada (note: they've got free skate rentals for you!) In summer, this park is used for tons of festivals like Pride Festival and Jazz Festival.

Arts & Culture

Canada's Modern Art Museum. This spectacular building houses an incredible collection of modern art, including the world's largest collection of Picasso's linocuts. It's brand new and was opened in October 2017. I'd highly recommend a tour through and a lunch at the gallery's restaurant SHIFT, which was opened by the famous Toronto restaurant group Oliver and Bonacini.
