My favorite nearby coffeeshop

Super friendly hip coffeeshop. Oh! And great coffee. A two block walk. Great family spot, too.

Food scene

Exhausted hungry travelers will love the easy Taos vibe of this place with oven-fired pizza and local brews. Less than a mile away on the main drag.

A world-class ski area

I've taught skiing here for 23 years; my sons have grown up on the mountain. And we love climbing Wheeler Peak in summer and hiking to Williams Lake, where it's cool and green.

The Taos Plaza is tourist central, but also the historic center of Taos.

Taos Plaza is a great place to get oriented, shop for art or souvenirs, people watch, grab some green chile and a margarita.

Cultuur en gebruiken

Taos is a friendly place...just say hi!

A unique blend of languages is spoken here--listen for local Spanish (not what you learned in school) and Tewa--an endangered language still spoken by the people of Taos Pueblo.

It's more fun to walk!

It's a mile on sidewalk to the Taos Plaza. Just go left at the end of Zuni. Go one block, then right on Salazar until you near the plaza. Salazar parallels the main drag, called Paseo del Pueblo Sur. MainDThis stree
