We like Salto coffee shop for both breakfast and lunch… yummy tacos, decent affordable lunch portions, and bright lofty modern interior with fab outdoor seating. This is a great informal co-work space with rock solid wifi. FYI this is order at the bar and pick up.

The new trendy place is Crosscut Pizza and it’s beautiful inside with awesome seating outside. They have sourdough pizza crust, unique pairings for toppings, and an authentic pizza oven for that wood fired experience. Plenty of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options.

We love the Carousel of Happiness, $1.50 per ride! The story about it is so inspiring and it’s great for all ages, 1-100! there’s a play puppet theater upstairs with window overlooking the carousel; great for young kids. They also installed a sound booth where you can record stories of your life to share. So sweet! They have alternating winter/summer hours so check their website for current hours.

The closest hot springs is only 40 minutes away in Idaho Springs. We love the Indian Hot Springs with its indoor pool surrounded by greenery and plants. The (clothing optional) adult caves are very therapeutic. It’s a long-standing family run business and is a bit run down and dated but still a gem in our eyes!

Hiking
We love Panorama Point! in Golden Gate State Park (you’ll pay entry depending on time of year) has a beautiful circular route with well marked trails. They have a visitors center with maps and info at Reverends End Campground, though we also keep a brochure in the guesthouse for you to reference.
Hessie Junction is a bit of an Indian peaks Mecca with so many hikers on the weekends they do a free shuttle. To ge to the trailhead you go through the sweet little town of Eldora. The most common is up to lost lake and back; which if you find the river trail is a sweet easy hike.

And the views don’t disappoint, as you’re starting at 10,000 feet. Lake Isabelle is a favorite and closest, and for those up for a longer hike; keep going to Buchanan Pass and the Divide for breathtaking views. Entry fees apply.
