The small train that goes to Kalavryta is well known to train lovers worldwide because its journey is one of the most spectacular of any railroads. The narrow gauge tracks follow the stream bed of the Vouraikos river through the narrow gorge up into the mountains, through tunnels, over water-falls, along cliffs and through forests of pine and oleander.Built by the Italians in 1885 the train travels around 22 kilometres and takes about an hour to get to Kalavryta.On the grounds of the old raiway station is locomotive number 8001 which served this route for 70 years and has now been preserved as a monument after travelling over two million kilometres back and forth to Kalavryta.The new train is a little bit modern waiting to begin the trip! please make early reservation at Diakopto station during high season!

It's a special and natural phenomenon which was created when tree plane trees sprung together close to each other and over time united into one.The tree has a base of around 16 metres and height of 25 metres. The interior of the church, inside a natural cavity of the plane tree, you will find the depiction of the icon of Virgin Mother holding baby Jesus. Many miracles have occured here for the faithful by the grace of Virgin Mother who has hepled those in physical, mental and spiritual need.
