Drinks & Nightlife

The Ashburnham is our local and favourite pub in the area. It is a cosy, friendly and quaint retreat from the hustle and bustle of Greenwich town centre. Nestled in a quiet residential street away only 3-4 minutes walk from the Old Vicarage. You can expect a warm welcome from Andy the landlord and a proper pub experience off the beaten track - complete with real wood burning fire. They serve hearty home-cooked food (we recommend the Sunday roast, chicken and ham pie, or the fish and chips), a good selection of wines and award-winning real ales from Britain’s oldest brewery. Outstanding Japanese (who also deliver) - by far the best in the area. Food is sensationally fresh, authentic and inspiring - think shabushabu, sushi, sashimi, miso soup, ramen and tempura and features rice, tofu and seafood (Tuna, Salmon, Sea bass, Scallop, Yellow Tail, Spot Prawn and Abalone) as staples. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is calm and cosy. Link: https://www.kitcho.co.uk/

If you are looking for delicious and authentic fish and chips, you can't go past the Golden Chippie. The frontage is unassuming but the fish is fresh and fried to perfection, with a nice and thin crispy layer of batter. The chips are golden crispy from outside but soft and mushy on the inside, just right! The staff are very friendly and always happy to help. Portions are generous. One of the best pubs in London (arguably the best Sunday Roast). We HIGHLY recommend heading off a bit earlier, wandering along the banks of the Thames and then settling into a table (upstairs by the windows is a fantastic view whatever the weather) for a delicious meal. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy the view. We'd recommend you share the Quayside seafood platter to start, dive into mains (they are all good), but don't go past the sticky toffee pudding. Not just a restaurant the pub downstairs is friendly, cosy and has a great wine list, spirits selection and interesting beers on tap.

Parks & Nature

Overlooking the River Thames and home to one of London’s most iconic views, Greenwich Park is an amazing mix of 17th century landscape, stunning gardens and a rich history that dates back to Roman times. The park’s 183 acres has something for everyone. Stand on the Prime Meridian, the reference point for the rest of the world, and visit The Royal Observatory. Greenwich Park is a former hunting park in Greenwich and one of the largest single green spaces in south-east London. One of the Royal Parks of London, and the first to be enclosed and is part of the Greenwich World Heritage Site

Blackheath Park is one of the largest areas of common land in Greater London, with 85.58 hectares (211.5 acres) of protected commons. Take a walk, fly a kite or wander down the hill to the village, Blackheath is a great alternative to Greenwich park for anyone looking to stretch their legs. PS: Blackheath is perhaps most famous for founding the Blackheath Rugby Club in 1858, which is the oldest documented rugby club in England and since 1981 has been the start of the London Marathon.
