City/town information
Whitstable is a fishing town full of independent shops, boutiques, art galleries and eateries. We have a beautiful coastline and stunning sunsets, which are best viewed from the beach.
Our working harbour is the perfect place to sample the local seafood or take a boat trip out to discover the coastline. The Harbour village is a selection of beach huts selling everything from olives to seafood, local artwork to street food. The Harbour's new edition The South Quay Shed will open in the Spring/ Summer of 2022 which will be a mixed use of restaurants, bars and cultural activities.
The beach is shingle and pebbles. Swimming can be enjoyed two hours either side of high tide (three if you go to Tankerton) The beaches of Whitstable stretch from Seasalter to Tankerton and each part has it's own unique charm, from quirky beach huts to the famous Old Neptune Pub. A walk along Tankerton promenade is always recommended and a stroll along the shingle 'Street' which stretches out at low tide is a Whitstable must.
There are lots of water-sports to enjoy from paddle boarding to windsurfing. There are several places near the harbour that run lessons and hire equipment.
If you like your food then Whitstable is the place to be, we pride ourselves on our world famous oysters and there are several really good fish restaurants. We also have a fantastic mix of quirky independent cafes and bars.
But Whitstable is not all fine dinning and beach dwelling. We also have several lovely woods to discover. If you have a car then Clowes, Blean, Thornden and Rough Common woods are all a mere 10 - 15 minute drive away. You can discover the Salt Marsh walk way from Seasalter to Faversham and if you fancy something a little closer then the Downs is a short walk from the flat and gives you excellent views of the town. If you fancy something a little more relaxed then Whitstable Castle is a perfect stroll and serves a great cream tea!
Fancy something little more energetic? A Park Run is organised from Tankerton beach every Saturday. We have two Golf Clubs a Swimming pool and several gyms. Ikigai Holistic Yoga studio is less than five minutes walk from the flat and has a brilliant selection of classes (always best to book before hand though).
That's just a little taster of our special town - we love Whitstable and we hope you do to!

Venturing further afield
If you decide to venture further a field from Whitstable then here are some of our favourites…there are some lovely little towns and beaches that are a short drive away
The Ancient City of Canterbury is eight miles from Whitstable. Easily accessible by bus or car. The Cathedral is stunning, there are several museums in the town celebrating the cities rich history from Rupert the Bear and Bagpuss to The Romans and the Pilgrimages. You can also take a river boat tour and there are lots of shops and lovely restaurants. The Marlowe Theatre is our local largest Theatre and always has something fabulous to offer. There are two Curzon Cinemas and the Gulbenkian at the University.

Quirk, charm, art, vintage and some great food. Margate has so much more to offer than just sandy beaches and seaside arcades. Some of my own recommendations are Margate old town, The Turner Contemporary, Dreamland, The Shell Grotto, The Caves and The Crab Museum (for little ones)
