Rated one of the best restaurants in New Zealand, Roots is over the hill (through the tunnel) from Christchurch in the port town of Lyttelton. It's about 25 minutes drive from here. It's an epic dining experience, but on the pricey side.

Shopping

Boutique shopping in a stunningly restored arcade, oddly located in an industrial area. Also has a good wine bar, a brewery with the best pizza in town, and a couple of cafes.
