Next door to the visitor centre is the Taste the Atlantic - Salmon Experience which is fairly unique and well worth a visit. It starts with a shadow play depicting the legend of the Salmon of Knowledge, shows authentic news reels in old TV sets, explains wild salmon fishing and modern aquaculture. You can solve jigsaw puzzles and quizzes. Very entertaining.

Walk through Irish history - visit the old castle, the crannog (artificial island) and Brendans boat, a replica of St. Brendans boat with which the saint travelled to North America and back. Very enjoyable.

About an hour away, Bunratty has a lovely folk village, park and castle to explore. A cafe, picnic facilities, and some farm animals make you spend hours here!

Lisdoonvarna used to be Ireland's premier spa town where the gentry would go to spend the summer months to "take the [sulphur] water" and check out the opposite sex. From this, the matchmaking festival came into existence.
The spa wells are a bit hidden, a beautiful spot at the southern end of Main Street. With its well maintained park and the historical building, it is a little gem.
