Back in the day- Eugene was marked from Skinner's butte on the north to Spencer's butte at the south, with Willamette St connecting them both (it still does today, the town has just grown out a bit!). Drive to the top, or take one of the hiking trails up for an urban hike. North side connects to the massive river trail system.
