This watering hole was once a limestone quarry and is our favorite place to spend a hot summer afternoon. The water is turquoise in color, cold and fresh and you can set up your blanket on the sandy beach area. Bring a picnic lunch and your own beverages as you can't buy them on site. Tip: The GRCA has imposed a 1,300 person daily limit to lessen the environmental impact of the area. Our advice is to go as soon as the Quarry opens and purchase your ticket-it gets very busy in summer and the park closes to new comers when they reach capacity. Tickets are $10. per person.

Green Space is a picturesque park and designated resting place on Mill Street smack dab in the center of Elora downtown area. Take your picture of the Tall Man, a finger pointing sculpture titled "Who's in Charge". Great place to sit, relax and people watch. Its a pretty place with red Muskoka chairs and large flat seating stones. During the summer, the Green Space turns into a stage for local musical performances or for the local theatre troupe. At various times of the year it exhibits local sculptures and during October the space is taken over by scary lantern sculptures. These magical creatures appear during Elora's "monster month" and are worth a weekend in Elora.

A great side trip while visiting Elora. Head to the famous St. Jacobs Farmers and Flea Market. Its Canada's largest year-round bustling market with a country vibe featuring indoor and outdoor vendors. A great place to find locally grown, farm fresh foods, baked goods, pure maple syrup, freshly butchered meats, cheeses, etc. and just stroll around. Plan on having a lunch there and you can choose to sit indoors or outside. You simply must try the Apple Fritters-my fav. Open Thursdays & Saturdays-year round. The Evelyn is one of Elora's newest restaurants. This French-inspired casual fine-dining spot home to some incredible dishes. Since they opened we have dined here for most of our special events-birthdays and anniversaries. We love the attentive wait staff, the atmosphere and the Jazz that is quietly playing in the background-a very classy place. The flat iron steak is our favorite entre and always order just that as it is so amazing. We usually start with the olives and the fresh bread, and fresh salad and rarely have we been able to handle a desert though I hear they are great. The Evelyn also has a nice selection of Cab Sav wines to enjoy while dining. It's at the top of my list of restaurants in Elora.

Right in the heart of downtown Elora, The Porch Light is another favorite of ours as it is a small place and the owners are very personable.
