Olympic Peninsula in one day

Here are some of our favorite recommendations for one long day on the Olympic Peninsula.
20 min from the Kingston Ferry Dock Port Gamble—Historical town founded by Pope and Talbot Lumber. The town is on the historic register, quite cute and worth a stop since the road goes right through it. There is a funky general store and a good restaurant (not fancy) called the Butcher and Baker.

1 hour from Port Gamble Sequim –The town is unremarkable and not worth too much time except if you want to walk the Dungeness Spit. Hike down to the beach and you can walk all along. It is pretty northwest beach rocky and rough.

1 hour from Sequim Port Angeles—another unremarkable town (actually they all are this is the rural northwest.) For a spectacular Northwest view take the road to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park on the left as you come through town. There is a long windy road to the top. IF it is a clear day you can see to San Juan Islands and Victoria Canada. There may be snow on the top.

1 hour from Port Angeles Lake Crescent. This is a beautiful drive and the lake just as beautiful. The lodge opens April 26th serves lunch and dinner. Across the highway near the lodge there is a hike to Merrymere falls. I highly suggest you take it. It is through some old growth forest and very rainforest feel I think it is about 1-2 miles.
