A favorite regional chain, Flying Star has really good locally sourced food and is good for a wide variety of meal and desert items, from burgers to vegetarian to bakery & coffee. Order at the counter and they bring your meal out. This location has a beautiful patio that is dog friendly.

This "farm-to-fork" style restaurant has become a real favorite for a unique, field-side patio and local-centric food. The price level is high for the Albuquerque area, but the ingredients are quality - The head chef here just won a national competition on TV's Top Chef! (2016-17)

This is the closest "fast food" to my home, you can walk about 2 blocks. Not bad, really, as far as fast-food goes... Sonic fashions itself after the late 1950's western drive-in, with burgers & milk shakes - but the hot dogs & chicken dinners are also popular. Great "Super Sonic" breakfast burritos & tater tots. NO INDOOR SEATING, but they have a small pation for walk-up service.

The International Balloon Fiesta is booked annually for 10 days through the 1st and 2nd weekends of October. It's an experience like NOTHING ELSE in the world!... and it a long walk or a short bike ride from my home. One must get up very, very early to take advantage of a surreal early morning propane fueled lift-off of up to 500 Hot Air balloons from the Fiesta grounds within about an hour and a half's time. The sky is filled with an array of shapes, colors, & sizes. Truly out-of-this-world.

Oh My, if you are visiting ABQ for the first time and never tried Pinion Coffee... you are in for a treat! Unique and different, just a tad sweet and nutty, most folks REALLY take a shine to the coffee flavor they roast and brew here locally. They also have amazing pastries (try to biscochito donuts). This location closes about 3pm weekdays, and 2pm weekends - but there is a drive through location farther down (towards Downtown) the valley that is open until 6pm most days.
