This restaurant opened at the end of 2016 and is my new favorite spot in the neighborhood. It is chef owned and has a creative but not over the top menu. I suggest the $40 tasting menu. After dinner head two blocks down Washington St. to Wally's Cafe Jazz Club.

In the heart of the Puerto Rican community, this restaurant is authentic and more reasonably priced than most restaurants in the south end. It is also steps from my condo so you can put your name in on a busy night and then go back to the apartment to wait for your table.

Live Jazz every night of the year. This is a classic and not to be missed. It is the last surviving reminder of Boston's jazz heyday and was one of the first racially integrated venues in New England. Jazz greats such as Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday and art Blakey played here.
Don't be fooled by the title, they don't serve food but you can bring food in. There is no cover, just drinks and live music.

My favorite library in America. The old part reminds me of Harry Potter and there is a beautiful courtyard and very nice restaurant cafe. The new part was just redone and a great place to bring kids.
