Fabrika is the space for rebellious minds to create and share. Once a soviet sewing factory has been revived and transformed into a multi-functional urban space bringing together enthusiastic individuals ready to stretch their minds with new exhilarating experiences. The space now continues its life as the popular hotspot that unites urban style cafes and bars, artist studios and shops, educational institutions, co-working space, the biggest in the region hostel, mind blowing open space courtyard, ever changing one-off events and creates synergy between them. For like-minded individuals, both locals and travellers, Fabrika is an alternative hotspot for gathering in Tbilisi with a great vibe and prodigious space to create and share, co- work, learn, socialize or have a sleepover. With its striking “old-meets-new” attitude, Fabrika oozes genuinely cool soviet vibes blended with funky industrial elements. It has become the symbol of renovation, recreation and reinvention.

Everybody knows this cute polar bear, which appeared in Tbilisi in August 2008 and continues to provide us with the finest ice-cream and more. This European-type ice cream parlor combined with a coffee shop meets international standards of product quality and service. You can enjoy your dessert from 8am until late night 2pm. 26 different flavors – containing zero artificial coloring or flavoring are made based on original Italian recipes (Our favorite is definitely Vanilla with Caramel and Almond). Luca Polare is surely a heaven for vegans, because their fruit sorbets do not contain any fat or animal products. This café’s menu is way broader than you might think. Starting from the assortment of hot and cold drinks, followed by muffins, cookies, cakes and ending with fresh juices, mixed fruits and salads. The cozy atmosphere, together with the aroma of newly ground coffee and products made and served with love make Luca Polare the place to be in Tbilisi.

Walk along Tabukashvili str. On the corner, backside of Rustaveli theatre, there is a souvenir shop. A bit up there will be a yellow door. This is it! The place is a bit hidden, but usually full because of delicious food you get there. A lot of Georgian and Eastern European specialties, plus nice interior makes you like you don’t even mind that the prices are a bit higher than in other restaurants of similar level. If the weather allows it, sit outside: it is very nice and authentic with those grape vines hanging above you. By the way, it is a cat friendly place, especially in summer you may often find cute cats around!

As Georgians are very fond of their history and good food, they are coming to Barbarestan to enjoy the taste of good old times. You won’t find too trivial dishes there: the menu is rich on the recipes from the cookbook written by Barbare Jorjadze, the Chef and feminist of 19th century. The Chef, who we consider the best in the country, deserves personal compliments. Vintage atmosphere and recipes combined with fabulous quality and service – that was the idea of the founders (a family with 10 children). They know, how a family-type restaurant should taste and look like. In short, the atmosphere is very pleasant and different from all the traditional restaurants in the region. It is the possible destination for true gourmands in Georgia.

Otakhi is a take-away café, with two small tables inside, prices are affordable, everything listed on menu is natural and extremely yummy. However, it should be noted that apart from delicious coffee and hot chocolate, Otakhi offers two incredibly tasty deserts – fluffy chocolate muffin with unbelievable taste and flavor and Khilamushi – with a made-up name and ingredients. Khilamushi is prepared based on traditional Georgian desert – Phelamushi, however the latter is done with grape juice only, while Khilamushi is prepared with seasonal fruit juice, almond and walnuts.

Warszawa is the cheapest and smallest place to get super drunk in Tbilisi. You can get a shot of vodka for only USD 0.8. It is easy to reach and great place to begin your night out. Vodka is quite delicious there, so count your shots. You wouldn’t want to end your night early by having to lay facedown on a park bench till morning.

This is the smaller version of DIVExFabrika ran by the same owners and this the first place they opened. Here you will mostly meet foreigners hanging out together. A couple hours after opening, Dive Bar transforms into a place where everyone becomes the life of party; mostly because they are super drunk and happy! Dive Bar is a place which is liked both by Georgian and ex-pat locals, it has the spirit of some different, non-Tbilisi easiness. No place for awkwardness, indeed. You can talk to everyone there. Staff is very friendly as well. That’s why it is full almost every evening. Prices for alcohol, beverages and snacks are extremely reasonable. If you are in the mood for drinking, talking, playing something, listening to music and dancing in a very casual atmosphere, come by. Georgian beer, Polish vodka and good multi-culti mood guaranteed.

It’s all about food: it’s really delicious here, the menu offers a lot of national specialties, and the interior is very Georgian as well. Location is also important: Dry Bridge is a famous place, so it’s easy to get there before, after or for good drinking and/or dinner. There are a lot of places offering national food, but here you can try almost everything from different regions of Georgia, and the prices are very reasonable. Draft wine is cheap and good, and if you are into something stronger, you can drink chacha, and accompany it with variety of salads, meat and pastry.

It is a small restaurant with an authentic style. Here, in a nice, cozy atmosphere, you can enjoy Georgian traditional dishes with some modern twist. We would recommend to order “Gobi”, it is a huge plate of mixed Georgian “Pkhali” (walnut seasoned greens), pickles, Mchadi (corn bread), and cheeses. Shavi Lomi will cost you around 20 USD per person, but it’s definitely worth the price.

You will notice first merchants from Soviet time Georgia already from the bus stop. On the dry bridge you can find almost everything you were looking for, even Irons and remote controls, but mostly people come here for old coins, postcards, dishes, paintings, books, accessories, vintage phones, and cameras. Here citizens of Tbilisi bring out all the treasure from their houses to make money or just present their collections to the Tourists. At the weekends visitor of Tbilisi go to the busy market for cheap souvenirs or just for something memorable to take home from the city. Note that the prices here are quite high and merchants might try to charge you extra just because you are foreigner, so feel free to negotiate the price. Knowing couple of Russian words would be a plus, because most merchants at the Market speak mainly Georgian and Russian.

The Kashveti church was constructed between 1904 and 1910 by the architect Leopold Bilfeldt, who based his design on the medieval Samtavisi Cathedral. The construction was sponsored by the Georgian nobility and bourgeoisie. Kashveti was built on the site of a damaged church built of brick at the request of the Amilakhvari family in 1753. Significant contributions to the current church's ornate design were made by N. Agladze. Kashveti's frescoes were painted by the influential Georgian painter, Lado Gudiashvili, in 1947. The name "kashveti" is derived from Georgian words kva for a "stone" and shva "to give birth." Legend has it the prominent 6th century monk David of Gareja of the Thirteen Assyrian Fathers was accused by a woman of making her a pregnant in Tbilisi. David prophesied his denial would be proved when she gave birth to a stone. She did, and the place received the name of "kashveti."

Electronic music is a universal platform uniting contemporary lives from the most unexpected parts of the world. And Georgia is one of them. Recent festivals such as 4GB, Tbilisi Open Air (July 29-31) and GEM Fest (August 10-14, Anaklia) prove how rapidly we’re catching up with the times. And Bassiani is our cosmic machine cast in the outer space for endless exploration. The club opened in October 2014 and since then it has become the nebula of total isolation from the bursting lights of conventional city. Located at the largest Dinamo arena, Bassiani seeks no spotlight as it owns them all. It is the unique place for electronic music lovers to break free from mandatory roles of our society. Students, accountants and doctors by day mutate into the heaving moths through the laser lights of the night. The place is Georgian version of Berghein or Chalet. Bassiani has hosted names like Tommy Four Seven, ATEQ, Blawan, Answer Code Request, Paula Temple and many others.

According to the legend, in the V century, King Vakhtang Gorgasali found his hunting falcon poached in the hot sulfur waters and ordered to move the capital city to this place. He named the city – Tbilisi. The word “Tbili” translates as “Warm” so the name was most probably inspired by hot sulfurous springs that come natural in certain districts of the city.

In the late 50’s, it went back to being a restaurant and in 2012 the place was finally transformed into a space dedicated to electronic music and art in general. Nowadays “Mtkvarze” offers the best of underground house and disco in its main room, plus a more varied playlist, from experimental music to hip-hop, in its smaller second room. There’s also a balcony with a view of the river Mtkvari. The sound system is by Void Acoustics, and many consider it to be one of the best in the world. Since its foundation, the club has already hosted international and local artists, djs as well as vjs and won “The Best Venue” price at the Awards Ceremony for the innovative Pop culture Electronauts three times in a row.

Café Gallery is popular for its friendly atmosphere that helps people meet each other. In spite of its small capacity – main room contains little more than a dance floor with space for less than a two hundred people – it hosts credible house and techno act like Daniel Bell, Tama Sumo, Boo Williams, Lakuti etc. Launched in 2015, Didi Gallery (owned by the same people) offers credible house and techno acts – from Detroit’s Derrick May and Kenny Larkin to Berlin’s Ellen Allien.
