Food Scene

A great community social enterprise, not only great coffee but lovely food including gluten free. Breakfasts are very good. Roots also hosts yoga classes on a Monday evening, mindfulness and creative workshops

We love this place - the traditional pub is dying out and this is a great example of what a proper traditional pub should be. Also great food. Same owners as Cafe Rene but this is smaller, quieter and more relaxed. Wood burner and very dog friendly

The Hub is a non-for-profit social enterprise providing work and skills for adults in recovery from addiction. It has THE BEST breakfast baps and really good coffee but the secret weapon is Flo's cakes. I defy you to eat anything better - gluten free and vegan options. Too yummy.

OK - so there are a lot of thai restaurants everywhere these days, and if you have been to Thailand you know that a good one is hard to find. This is exceptional and from the outside and the interior decor you wouldn't think so (which we also love) try everything.

Drinks & Nightlife

Cafe Rene hosts a pretty impressive catalogue of live bands nearly every week and also puts on mini blues festival in the summer, but the food is awesome - proper pub grub. Great choice of ales and a good wine list

An independent bar! The Quays is really nice but dominated by chains. This bar is really stylish, fantastic choice of ales and lagers and beers - great wine too. They also do these amazing charcuterie boards (v reasonably priced), wood fired pizza and an amazing gourmet burger.
