Food scene

Bucko is one of those places in a city that has tasty food that locals love but is not very touristy, meaning the service is bad. They only serve a basic pizza and sandwich, but what makes them so special is there various salads that they put on top of their pizzas. You might be thinking "WTF salads on a pizza"? Once you try it you're gonna understand why a lot of people keep coming back to it. A must try! It only has two locations and the more popular one is in the heart of the city in Francuska street. It is always busy, not very friendly staff but the huge lines and cars parked around it show you that it is the local's favorite pizza place.

Walter is a chain restaurant that provides amazing Serbian BBQ. This is another place where locals go for food. It is not in any way considered expensive, fine dining, but locals love it for the nice warm atmosphere and great food. My recommendation is to try the ćevapi (Serbian sausage like food), or pljeskavica (burger) along with this get a šopska salad (salad with cheese) and some nice cold beer. They have nice deserts as well. Whatever you get you cannot go wrong at Walter's.

Tri Šešira, in English “Three Hats”, is a true pearl among the restaurants of Skadarlija. It was built in the heart of Skadarska street and remains in a recognizable ambiance for more than 150 years. The restaurant is known for its service and quality even outside the borders of our country. It had the honor to host some of the most eminent domestic and international figures: King Juan Carlos, George Bush, Pertini, Willie Brant, and others

Klub književnika is a place of good food and legendary tales. In Klub knjizevnika Ivo Andrić gave his first statement after he received Nobel prize. This is the place where Danilo Kiš and Momo Kapor always sat together, and the place where they felt old for the first time. This is the place where one evening Rockefeller came to dinner among the first guests, and left among the last ones. Klub književnika is, for almost 70 years, a place where many loves were born. This was the only place, according to their friends, where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton never argued. This is the place where Olivera Katarina got engaged and married and all in one night! Klub Književnika was the first witness of the relationship between Ljiljana and Momo Kapor. Today, after 70 years, Belgrade has changed. Klub književnika also changed, nevertheless, some things remained: good food prepared in a traditional manner, and pleasent atmosphere where great names of today sit along with the young new hopes of tomorrow.

The building that houses the Historical Museum of Serbia was built as the seat of the Privileged Agrarian Bank in the period from 1932 to 1934. In its monumental and lavish architectural design, the building is one of the most valuable achievements of interwar Serbian architecture. As the main task of the Privileged Agrarian Bank was to support national agriculture with favourable credits and loans and thus strengthen the national economy, the construction of this monumental representative building in the city center was aimed at showing the reliability of the Bank’s funds and the power of the state as its founder. The design contest for the building, announced in 1931, was one of the most important architectural competitions of that time. Designs by architects received from all over the Kingdom of Yugoslavia showed a wide range of architectural and stylistic ideas, ranging from outdated academic traditionalism to progressive ideas, varying from a moderate to purified modernism and a functional aesthetics. Accordingly, this competition is considered to be one of the most important indicators of the dynamic flow of the Serbian and Yugoslav architecture of the interwar period.

Kalemegdan is the core and the oldest section of the urban area of Belgrade. For centuries, the city population was concentrated only within the walls of the fortress, and thus the history of the fortress, until most recent times, reflects the history of Belgrade itself. Kalemegdan was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979, and is protected by the Republic of Serbia. It is the most visited tourist attraction in Belgrade, with Skadarlija being the second. Since the admission is free, it is estimated that the total number of visitors (foreign, domestic, citizens of Belgrade) is over 2 million yearly.

Fun

SUMMER Ada Ciganlija is great place where locals go to relax and have a great time over the summer. There are a lot of nice cafes, sports facilities, e scooters, rollerblades, bikes to rent and go for a swim. Not very touristy more of a place where locals go during the summer months. Ada Ciganlija colloquially shortened to Ada, is a river island that has artificially been turned into a peninsula, located in the Sava River's course through central Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. To take advantage of its central location, over the past few decades, it was turned into an immensely popular recreational zone, most notable for its beaches and sports facilities, which, during summer seasons, can have over 100,000 visitors daily and up to 300,000 visitors over the weekend

The boat-based club was named after Belgrade's coordinates and quickly set high standards for real clubbing in Belgrade. A local's favorite this club has amazing DJs that play House and Techno all night long along the Sava river on the boat the club is located on. The views are amazing as you can see the sun raise up on the Kalemegdan Fortress in the early morning hours. 20/44 managed to get to England without moving an inch when it was declared as one of the best clubs in this part of Europe by the local magazine the "Guardian". The only way of moving happens when the boat-based club is crowded with dancing people
