Take a bus form the center of Lausanne or also walk to the tower of Sauvabelin, (beware it will be steep), to enjoy an amazing 360 degree view of the mountains and the lake. You might also enjoy a walk in the park and the woods around the tower.

Lots of public transportation that can get you pretty much everywhere in and out of Lausanne. Even thought walking is also an option, but you may find it difficult because of the steep hills in Lausanne. Prices or relatively expensive, 3,70 francs for one trip.
